Way to get started

Post » Thu Jul 26, 2012 11:45 pm

I just started another character and I'm about 9 hours in I have my gear and potions but every dungeon I go into I get impaled with my face destroyed by everything except rats and bugs.
Is there a good place to get started or do I need to taakke itt sslloooww.

What race and class are you playing? And what weapons/ armour/ spells are you using? Low levels are tougher than higher ones, but getting impaled by all but rats and small creatures is strange...

Take it slow. Some dungeons are gonna be hard, no matter what. That's what makes this game so great, is that there's a constant challenge. (well, until higher levels, or if you know where to find the right gear). My best advice would be to train, and don't rush through dungeons. Always keep some healing potions, and stamina potions in your inventory.

I make my potions restore both
Salt rice marshmerrow and scuttle/kwama eggs make a great potion to bad it fails a lot Out of 10 each I only get like 3 potions

What Bazz22 said. And go for quests, join guilds and get nice rewards. Spend your money in training or buying good gear. Always carry a couple Divine Intervention and Almsivi Intervention scrolls with you.

What level are you? You mentioned 2, I think.
If so, dying is still a concern in almost every cave you enter... Level 2 is nothing, and most of the game is still going to kick your but.

Exploring the Wilderness and it's random caves can be very dangerous, so the easiest way to start off in the right direction is to join a Guild or Faction... They start pretty easy, and let you get some experience.
At low levels, Ancestor Tombs are often easier than Caves full of bandits and wizards, and still can have some decent loot. (Daedric Ruins are the hardest)

I know Darliandor's lab is pretty, but I find my http://morrowind.inventivegamer.com/tools/potion-maker/?i=5,,,&a=4,,,&c=30,40,40&o=1,1 a bit more useful:

What you seek is listed under the "Other ingredients with this effect" bullet in the Notes column. Just click on them and it will add them to the potion and you will be able to see the approximate effect strength (for the vanilla game, anyway).
I still need to add a "first ingredient" finder helper, which is what you need in this case, but I preloaded it with Marshmerrow that has the effect.

You can also click on the ingredients in the Source column to remove them from the potion. Play around.

I can't find those damn guars!!!
If it's any consolation that quest has been frustrating players for ten years. I can still remember wandering around, getting frustrated. There used to be a web site called Hannah's Whereizit that directed players who were having trouble with Morrowind's vague (and often inaccurate) directions. Sadly, it's now gone. Here is the location on a map, if you want it. If you don't want it, don't click on the spoiler.
