I just started the game, and I can't get into the Census and Excise Office Warehouse. I picked the Tower sign, which gives me Open on touch, 50pts. That door is a 47 strength lock. I have clicked on the Tower Key, it turned blue and the Icon came up on the screen. I have tried my unarmed hands, and the apprentice lockpick. When I try the lockpick (20 or so tries) the only lockpick I have breaks before I can unlock it. I tried using the default keys (Used to be spacebar, now "E") to use and open and stuff. I don't get it. Why is the "open" not working?

There's a separate key for "readying" your magic. I think the default is C, but check your options. Once the spell is readied, use the mouse button to cast it.

Yeah, I tried that (I remapped it to "M"). OK I'll try it again.

Nope, doesn't do anything. I even tried "C" (and many other keys). Tried the "center" mouse button (scroll wheel depress) too.

When you say it doesn't do anything, what do you mean by that? Does a casting animation show? Do the hands pop up when you hit M?

When I hit M, the hands come up, like ready to cast. But nothing else happens. BTW, I remapped the keys using the in-game key remap (not the one in MGE).

Well, I just found the root of the prob. I looked at my key remapping in the in-game options, and it said joy-0 for ready magic. So I set it to "M" again, and it worked, the healing ring that is. Funny thing is it healed every time I readied my hands! So I went back to the Warehouse and hit "M" bringing up my hands, and instantly the door was unlocked (there were animations and sounds too). I don't know how the remapping got messed up. If I continue to have probs with it, I will try MGE remapping. But is the spell supposed to happen as soon as I raise my hands?

Yes, every time I raise/lower my hands to ready magic, I get "you've already used that magic once today." That isn't right, is it?

Also, there's no dual-wielding one-handed swords? I can't seem to equip a second sword, although they were not matched types.

Yeah, hitting M shouldn't actually cast the magic, only ready it, unless you've got the Morrowind Code Patch installed and checked the appropriate box, but in that case, the hands shouldn't raise or lower. Don't know what's wrong with your game.

You can only use certain powers once a day, including the unlock spell from the Tower sign. And nope, no dual-wielding in Morrowind. Sorry.

Yeah I can't cast using the mouse button. Only the "M" casts, and it readies too. Wierd.
