Game of the year edition installation issue

Post » Sun Aug 05, 2012 1:34 am

I recently purchased fallout 3 GOTY and checked on can you run it if i could run it, It said that my sony Vaio laptop met the minimum and half of the reccomended. the issue is when i put the 1st disk in it doesnt load or come up with anything that indicates fallout im not sure if i should just wait it out or look for a solution, by the way the second disk works but cant function without the first disk. any Help would be much appreciated

If you can't "open" disc 1 via the computer then it may be a bad disc. if there is an an area on the "Data" side that looks off-color from the rest of that side it could be a "bad press". though there are other reasons why a disc may not work.

It could be scratched up horribly.

another reason could be that the disc may just not work with that disc drive

So, it acts like it's a blank disc?

And btw is there any other way to change my disc drive, the dlc disk is fully installed somehow aswell.

I don't know the Vaio laptop so I don't know if the disc drive is swappable but even if it's permanently mounted there are external drives available but I think it would be best to find out the cause of the issue before getting one of those.

on the DLC disc being installed: if memory serves that's supposed to install in same path as Fallout 3 (whereever that is directed to) as it does no good to install first because it patches Fallout 3 as well as add the DLC

So I would search the hard drive for the location of the file "Fallout3" (minus the quotation marks) as that is one of the files patched

that's odd, it's usually disc 1 that loads up fast & Disc 2 is typically the one that take awhile to load up due to it's design requires for the whole disc to load in to the computer's RAM first

EDit,

Question:does your disc 2 have the folders BIN, DXREDIST, G4WL & Screenshots +about 16 other files visibleif you open that Disc?

if it does then it's mis-labeled & truly is disc 1

Sorry, but I'm flummoxed probably just a bad disc then you might be able to exchange it for a working one
