Glad to be back home...

in the Mojave.

Completed Lonesome road today, not sure I'll be entering the divide again though, mind you, having said that, I'm not sure I'll be returning to the locations of any of the DLC's, everyone I've played have left me with the feeling "glad to be back home" after finishing them, but lonesome road more so, it actually left me feeling a little depressed, I'm not knocking it, from a story pov it's quite good but lacked enough light hearted moments to balance things, if you like dark then it's a good DLC, I prefer a balance myself, by the time I reached Ulysses I just wanted to blow his head off and get out of there, it took all my will to stay in character, my current character prevented the launches believing the people have seen more than enough fall out from nuclear weapons, of course I got attached to the new ED-E and the choice at the end did not help my mood.

I'd be interested to read of your experience with lonesome road, did you feel satisfied, depressed, but more importantly, will you or have you play more than once?

I felt Loansome Road was good and a bit depressing...but I just got pissed off when I had to sacrifice ED-E...poor little guy--robot...I've played it two or three times by the way.

I just finished LR today and had a similar feeling. I really liked it, and the fact that it was short helped it from getting too overwhelming. I definitely felt that "whew, back again" after it was over, though. I do have to return at some point to pick up the Advanced and Elite Riot Gear though. Oh, and that reminds me, I still have things in Zion and Big MT to find. >.>

One thing I felt afterwards though, was that it was almost... silly to go back to standard questing afterwards. It's like I've been through all this heavy stuff and then it's back to "Yeah! I'll play matchmaker for you!". It's kind of jarring.

I found LR to be extremely boring and one dimensional. I honestly felt that the Obsidian QA team told the devs to put all those Old World flags on doorposts to mark the Courier's path because they themselves had no clue as to wtf they were supposed to do next half the time.

But the worst part of it was that Ulysses, who was interesting from previous DLC's where you could hear him on tape, he turned out to be a pompous, boring hypocrite. I call him The Stoned Rastafarian. I was glad to be over and done with the DLC when I two-shotted him in the back of the head with my AMR, because his health is so ridiculously high that a one-shot headshot was not sufficient to end the misery of being forced to listen to his drug-induced, brain-defective, slow, drooling rhetoric.

On the bright side, Honest Hearts and Dead Money were awesome on story and dialogue and more than made up for the LR failure. That, and the fact that Jeff Gordon won at Pocono this weekend :D

Ya....lonesome roads I hate to say is my least favorite dlc. Not saying its bad, not at all. Ulysses...eh I always kill him. Ive never seen him as a tortured soul good guy, I mean the guy was in ceasers legion and was the leader of the band that was razing zion down. At the end he even still pretty much sides with ceasers legion by letting them play out their part by just nuking the Mojave and the ncr. He jist seemed someone who was looking for someone to lay the blames of his problems with life on to go on some delusional holy crusade against what he considers flawed factions. Hell hes blantantly doing it outta revenge but lying to himself that hes doing it so the future people has a better chance of starting something better without being tainted of the past "failed" philosphies.
I had no problem destroying him.
Well...wanting to, the damn guy has so much [censored] health lol.
The area was welldone as in detail but alot of the areas was just filled with what seemed like shocker events like the deathclaws and the trailor and the tunnelers etc. I did like ede in it and the backstory with him, but it seemed the actual area snippets were few and far in between besides the ramblings of Ulysses.

But again, dont get me wrong it was a very well done dlc...just dosent seem to be my cup of tea. I loved dm and owb,, and hh is fine because its short and has Joshua Graham and the survivalist story, but LR just seemed tedious to me. It is a dlc thats best saved for last right before the battle of Hoover dam, completing it then doing reg quests does seem to make ya feel out of sorts.
