Should Skyrim have a long tutorial at the beginning like Obl

Post » Sat Feb 20, 2010 2:44 pm

I didn't mind the tutorial in OB that much once I got a mod to turn off the popup windows in the beginning. So do give us the option if we want to do the tutorial or not. Watching Uriel Septim die dozens of times did get old after a while so Bethesda might want to tone down the drama a bit.

I would want a optional tutorial and it should not be very long, but you could get some extra money/armour/weapons if you choose to play tutorial. I completed OB about 2-3 times so the tutorial became quite annoying. But I liked the tutorial in Morrowind.

We know your a lvl 30 Dragon Slayer and champion of Skyrim but did YOU KNOW you can move with the WSAD keys? :stare:

 I would LOL if that happened in-game

I vote for an optinal tutorial that's built into the game in a realistic way (i.e. being able to take a shortcut out of the prison you'll inevitably be in at the beginning of the game through a hidden door instead of taking the long tutorial way through caves and sewers)...

Think immersion, You still need a tutorial to kind of set the stage. It was an important part of Oblivion. It definitely did the job very well.

Another thing to say is that I think everyone has a saved game looking at the tunnel with bars and the white outside.

But, giving that we are improving on things previous, we definitely have need to create an alternate way of entering the game. There is ways around it, but why would you do that if we can just fix the problem?

As long as you can still save at the door then it's fine.

I like the fact the game starts you off slow and lets you get a feel for things!

BUT,

The second play through (on a new system, without a savegame) it got old quick, the story did not move fast enough!

SOLUTION,

Gears of War lets you choose your "path". This was one way to just get into the action or take the tutorial path.

IMPLEMENTATION,

In Oblivion, instead of following them through the tunnels you could have been given the choice to "Go quickly with (no name) NPC Guard to the North East part of the castle near the gates to the sewers" or "Follow us through these tunnels (the slower route)so we can see if you can help us".

No matter what you choose, you meet them right before the gate that will not open and the King is killed....

I liked the Tutorial in oblivion and I do want to see it come back as long as you have an option to skip it if you want on replaying the game.
