So, yeah, Boone.

I mean, his starting weapon is a freaking Hunting Rifle. By the time I got him (which translates to "very early in the game") Varmint Rifle is still a viable choice, and I could hunt Deathclaw with a single headshot from Hunting Rifle. He's got a beret which kicks ass (with his hairstyle anyway) and his quest ends only with additional armor.

Basically saying, he's got everything he needs. True, he might need an armor, Merc Grunt is not good DT wise, but he's a sniper, enemies aren't supposed to shoot at him in the first place.

Now, I have always given Boone a leather armor, just to be on the safe side, but I don't think I've ever given him any additional weapon, and Boone is still a good shot.
