Mods that help with crashes?

Post » Sun Feb 21, 2010 7:58 am

I know that a lot of people deal with crashing during gameplay with Morrowind, and some do not. I've tried to keep myself saving often, but I still forget sometimes and can lose an hour of gameplay or more. I could really use some mods that help stop crashes. I've seen auto savers but some said that they weren't very reliable I guess. Not sure why.

I'm running Morrowind with both expansions and mods like Tamriel Rebuilt, and a few others. The mods don't have anything to do with the crashes though as it will crash In Vanilla form as well.

What you need is the morrowind : http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=19510 which is not just a mod but a program which fixes the morrowind gameengine.

Since installing this my game has just about never crashed.

The http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=utilities.detail&id=22 seems to help with my stability also.

Every now and then, sleep 72 hours in a row. This lets the game 'forget' a lot of useless info that it's holding onto.
Save often, and make a new Save file after every ten saves or so. (then delete the old ones as they pile up)

And remember, Morrowind is an old game that wasn't designed the most optimal way. Almost everyone still has occasional crashes, especially after a few solid hours of gameplay.

Three things will reduce crashes to almost zero:
In order.
1. Get the Morrowind Code Patch.
2. Get Wrye Mash, learn to use it and keep your saves clean with it.
3. Learn to Check mods for 'cleanliness' yourself, with say enchanted editor.

Could I entice you to try http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8384 as well and see how it works for you?

Another thing to try is Timeslip's http://timeslip.users.sourceforge.net/exeopt.html. It's another game executable patcher not a mod, if you do decide to use it then apply after the Morrowind Code Patch.
