Let me settle some confusion:

Post » Sat Aug 18, 2012 9:48 pm

Some people seem to get real butthurt if anyone suggests that Alcatraz has been superseded. I cannot understand why, Alcatraz was a complete non-character. He may have been more fleshed out in that comic but as far as I am concerned Crysis is a game, not a comic so anything that is not expressed in the narrative of the game is not strictly canon. I think the game strongly alluded to the idea that Alcatraz was nothing more than a meat sack used to keep the suit functioning ;D

I don't think the writer from Crysis 2 is involved with Crysis 3 (correct me if I am wrong) and I would be very surprised if the character of Alcatraz plays any important role in the upcoming game. They could go really out and have the suit completely reconstitute Prophet inside the suit.

We'll see when the game is released :D
This is why we get "butthurt". People like you (no offense) think that just because Alcatraz didn't talk during Crysis 2, he's nothing more than a puppet. Crytek has already stated they didn't have him talk so the player could feel more like they were Alcatraz. Crysis may be a sci-fi game but it is a lot more realistic than you would think. Crytek won't simply make the nanosuit magically bring Prophet back and take over Alcatraz' body.
If anything in Crysis 3 we'll see Alcatraz going crazy from being able to remember another person's (Prophet) life as if he lived it himself.

Extract from Crysis legion:

"And of course, there is the troubling fact that he still insists on referring to himself as Prophet, although he is fully aware that he is not laurence barnes and that Laurence Barnes is dead"

Besides that its made clear in the book that during the interview the "subject" displayed different levels of intelligence and linquistic skills. Also depending on the questions the data troughput in the Nanosuit would increase or decrease. And since the suit is symbiotic id say this:
The body in the suit is Alcatraz. But there are more personalities that exist in the suit. Alcatraz's Prophet's and the Nanosuit has its own character in some way. Only when looking at alcatraz and Prophet, Prophets personalities seems to be the dominant one, in the book, now but the memories of alcatraz are still there though. To say that Prophets mind took over alcatraz completely is hard to say but we also know that the suit grows into the body. Prophet was fighthing it for control and he has been in it for 3 years or so. In Crysis 3, alcatraz will have been in it for 20YEARS!!!!!. For all we know that could mean the nanosuit is now basicly a Robot with some flesh, brains and nerves in it for it to function and that the personalities of alcatraz, Prophet and the Nanosuit have completely merged into a single personalitie bend on revenge against its creators

I lean to the suit and Alcatraz are now one entity with both memories and DNA of the NS 2.0(Prophet's) and Alcatraz are in there and calling the shoots. Jacob Hargreave Said take up the mantel of Prophet and save humanity. I think calling him self Prophet is Alcartaz's/NS 2.0's way of saying... were not Prophet the man who died... but we sure are going to do what he wanted to happen.

By the way that there is not a clear cut who runs the NS 2.0 which I think was intended because some times not telling out right whats going on it the best way to tell a story. Mystery is a great tool.

If you mean he talks FOR Alcatraz that's something completely different.

I do mean that, Alcatraz no longer has the ability to speak "Prophet does the talking"

I thought it was quite interesting that he (Alcatraz) not only is imprisoned in the suit but also in his own body

they all make up the single post-human entity, we know Alcatraz has his mental faculties because Prophet speaks directly to him.

Calling the character Prophet in Crysis 3 is down to Prophet being the only expressed personality.
Sigh, how many times have I (and others) explained this...
PROPHET IS DEAD. BUT, Prophet lives on as A PART of Alcatraz' mind. Prophet doesn't speak for Alcatraz, Alcatraz uses the voice synthesizer which stored Prophet's voice. Prophet speaks to Alcatraz (as well as appears to him) when Alcatraz is knocked unconscious (not killed as so many of you seem to think). That was the only possible way for Alcatraz to hear/see him, which also proves Prophet is now a part of Alcatraz' mind the same way his memories are.
Prophet has NOT merged personalities with Alcatraz,
Prophet has NOT taken over,
Prophet has NOT returned, revived, etc.
Alcatraz still thinks for himself, he just took on the name Prophet not because he thinks he IS Prophet but because 1) Everyone kept calling him Prophet throughout C2 so he's probably gotten used to being called that, and 2) to carry on Laurence Barnes' spirit because he is now a part of Alcatraz.

Dude you are just writing everything i said in earlier posts and contradicting yourself at the same time

well done

Everything you said? I've been saying just about the same thing in multiple threads for a while now. Contradicting myself? Maybe I have, but it would be interesting to know where?

Without the suit Alcatraz would be dead. The suit healed all of his wounds, broken bones, etc, so he isn't dead. Prophet on the other hand...
i alway thought if he removed the suit he will die on the spot if thats case it didnt exactly heal him but i could be wrong!!

Alcatraz is dead, and the suit didn't heal any of his wounds.

In fact, it broke him further: It converted his own matter in order to patch up essential organs (such as the brain). Most of Alacatraz is suit and a few key organs if Crysis: LEGION is canon storyline.

If the suit dies, Alcatraz dies. You cannot remove the suit from Alcatraz because they're not separate entities anymore. You aren't a dude wearing the suit, you ARE the suit.

Truly, the figure of "Alcatraz" as anything at all is completely irrelevant now. The NanoSuit is, as of right now, Suit and key organs. Who they formerly belonged to doesn't matter: The NanoSuit bonded with Prophet (and became one with his consciousness). As soon as it got the chance, it converted its new host into Prophet, with whom it is one.

which i dislike they killed off Alcatraz like how they killed off nomad

they had a great chance of telling a story where the main player have 2 minds in one body.
....but nope

I would say he was someone who ate so many hamburgers he needed the suit powers just to allow him to sprint 5 metters lmao.

That or the military training is failing lately.
