I have a really stupid question regarding the Aldmeri Domini

Post » Tue Aug 21, 2012 1:17 am

What do two Mer races and a Beast race have in common that makes them ancient allies?
To my best knowledge, the Aldmer (possibly Nirn's first civilized race) migrated to south-western Tamriel from another continent that, as I was reading before, gets left off a lot of maps of Nirn because some people think it's a purely mythological place... I don't see where the Kajiit come into this... Is anyone capable of clearing this up for me in a detailed way?

Khajiit used to be mer, well not really they were ehlnofey that did not stabilize and stuck between man and beast, eventually some was changed by Y'ffre into bosmer and some by Azura, into khajiit.

Not really, best I can find is that it's an ancient alliance of convenience or conquest that kinda stuck in the minds of all the people involved as a good thing, or at least good enough to warrant a second try. Altmer and Khajiit have also allied in wars before so obviously there are some good relations between the two. Of course their alliances were always aimed at the Bosmer, but that's irrelevant right now.

It probably doesn't help that Alkosh had to whip Pelinal's ass either.

Geography.

The Altmer don't care so much about allying with the Bosmer and Khajiit as much as they enjoy the opportunity to spread their ideology.

They're the Mormons of Tamriel, if Mormons wanted to un-make the universe and had pointy ears.

Disclaimer: Mormons don't want to un-make the universe, as far as I'm aware.

Do you know this through in-game texts or other resources? Is there anything you could link me toward that explains this idea in-depth? I was hoping for some extended discussion on this topic... I'm not doubting your'e correct, I just wish to know more.

Do you think the Altmer resented the Bosmer for wanting not to participate in their dominating campaigns, instead being quite content living peacefully away from others in the jungles of southern Tamriel? I was reading somewhere that both races find their ancestry on 'Aldmeris'.. is this the case? Or are they completely seperate races, even from ancient times, only to meet upon importing to Tamriel?

That seriously didn't help me out, I'm sorry... what is it about the Bosmer and the Khajiit that makes them suitable allies? (in extended discussion format)... Is it just that the Altmer are very dominating in their way, while the other two races are not, and as a result they get used as extra soldiers or something?

The Altmer and the Bosmer are different kinds of people, of course there is some cultural resentment between the two, but I think of all people on Tamriel the Altmer consider themselves the number once and the Bosmer the best of the rest. That doesn't mean they like them that much, just more then the other races out there.

The Khajiit are capable allies because of a few things 1. They aren't men. 2. They are capable warriors and fighters. 3. Their society is screwed up enough to allow relatively easy conquest from the outside. 4. The Thalmor could get them only by claiming to have returned the moons, which the Khajiit pretty much worship.

An easy conquest of something that is not your eternal enemy seems like a rather good idea to me.

It's only ever beneficial to the Altmer since the mages of Alinor are never enough to take on the might of Man. The Altmer need Bosmer scouts and archers and Khajiit warriors and spies.
