Exploiting Necromancers and Trolls. :)

I'm sure many people have known how to do these things, but I wanted to share some tricks "I" found.

1 - Trolls, ugh, nasty brutes they can be, especially at Level 7 (where I am now). Well a rather frustrating thing about Trolls is that they slowly regenerate their Health, making them hard to kill at lower levels when the best you've got is probably a Silver Battle Axe. Well I learned quick to jump on large rocks where Bandits and tough creatures can't get you. I find it unrealistic that NPCs (characters AND creatures) cannot jump, but oh well. Anyway, while on this rock, as long as you have a long enough weapon, you can get close enough to the Troll (while still on the rock) and hit him without him returning fire so to speak. Level your Blade, Blunt, Restoration, or Destruction Skills by letting their Health come back up, though I don't think Hand To Hand works cause you can't reach.

2 - Necromancers, easy enough to kill... most of the time. Most often, Necromancers will summon a creature to help them fight. Often also, it's some form of a Zombie. Zombies are unique as they're somewhat slow, their attacks are easy to evade, and they seem to step back a bit when attacking allowing to remain in one place while fighting them; plus they have a lot of Health. So Level any of the Skills mentioned above.

Leveling Blade, Blunt or Hand To Hand takes a LONG time around 40 (skill level) so finding something like those two examples is great so you can just keep whacking them with whatever you've got. Hope that helps some. :)

I just abuse my horse. Doesn't seem to mind and I do take care not to kill it.

Only drawback of that is you have to have enough money to buy a horse, though you COULD just steal one, lol. I guess if you're going to nearly kill it, you may as well steal it too.

....or you can just take the one given to you for free. Avoid killing it early in the game by doing 1 hour waits.

A few other similar way to self train are

If you're good at Alchemy you can mix up some damage speed poisons. Then use them on some melee only enemies, like Trolls or Orges. With enough poisons you can lock them in place. Then you can fire or hack away. Works well with Trolls of course because of the Health regen.

Also there are several Aylied runs with Trolls or Zombies behind iron gates with big holes in the gates. You can use them to train marksmanship and destruction. Dread Zombies are nice for this because they also regen health.

That's stealing! Really, if your caught hitting your horse you can be charged with stealing. (I assume by "abusing" you mean hitting)

Stabbing, punching, blunt force trauma and a drain health spell.

Nothing major.

my favorite way of doing this is the staff of everscamp... you get 3 scamps at once that constantly respawn

So YOU'RE the one!!! My character was quite upset to hear some Imperials say they would rather sleep with their horse than a wood elf! :lmao:

Early on in my Oblivion gaming career (which was only about 2 months ago), I was having a really hard time killing trolls even though I'd read they were weak to fire and silver weapons also worked). As luck would have it, I started the "a brush with death" quest and what do you know...you've got to kill about a million trolls. Anyway, I found that there was one area in the rocks that was big enough for my Argonian, but too small for the trolls. With my trusty silver longsword I just had each troll chase me back to that spot where I was able to hack away until he finally died.

I don't have nearly that much trouble with trolls anymore, but it was a handy little trick I discovered that saved my hide in that quest.

you could always just conjure zombies repeatedly and beat them mercilessly... that is what I did one time.

Best place to train blade, blunt, hand to hand, and marksmen is at peritye's shrine just attack his unconicious followers repeatably and when you hit the level u want go to imperial city commit a crime and pay the fine to avoid glitches. Apparently all those unreported assaults cause major glitches.
