OOO mod difficulty

Post » Wed Aug 22, 2012 12:19 am

Sorry if this should be posted in the MOD section but hear goes.
I understand it provides a challenge but man am I getting my butt kicked! With slower leveling I'm only at level 4 now and I can only take down goblins, skeletons, bandits and wolfs. Oh, I'm a warrior btw. It seems everywhere I go I
gotta turn around. It's getting frustrating. It's getting to the point I'm running out of places to work on my skills to level cause I'm dying.

Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else experience this? I got this mod because I blew through vanilla Oblivion. It wasn't much fun. Maybe I should start over and customize a build. Who knows...
Btw I applaud the dude that made this mod.

Any hints? Please.
Thanks!

Yes, it should be posted in the Mod forum, why wouldn't it? If you had that thought, you surely could have taken the 5 seconds to click over to it and see that there is an http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1403903-relz-oscuros-oblivion-overhaul-135/ right there on the first page. Instead, you posted this here anyway, forcing me to make this post directing you to the proper location, wasting both of our times.

You're most welcome, Gra8efuldead.

It's a very challenging mod, when you are used to playing vanilla Oblivion. But, once you become familiar with its foibles and such, it does get easier.

And, well, that page should help a lot.

The link posted above is a great resource. Here are some tips from a long time OOO/MMM player.

If you don't have MMM I recommend you get it. Lots of great additions

The key for surviving in OOO is to avoid going very deep in dungeons at low levels. The deep you go (in terms of zones) the harder the enemies, generally speaking. Good starter dungeons are Fatback cave (first zone), Fanacasecul, and Fort Virtue. Vilverin is okay except for the final zone. Some dungeons are close to impossible for a low level character (eg Dunzot Cave).

I often try to level up Endurance early on for health points. My favorite way is to find some weak Goblin with a rusty dagger and let him hack away while wearing heavy armor. It can hit very fast. And you can train restoration that way too.

Alchemy is a wonderful way to tip the balance in your favor.

But with OOO it is okay to bravely run away from an enemy. One of the best parts of the mod is that eventually you can go back and wipe the floor with enemies that once caused you such grief. It gives a sense of satisfaction in developing a character -- much more so than the unmodded game in my opinion.

Good Luck.
