The Breton and Leveling advice

Post » Wed Feb 24, 2010 4:10 am

I've never used a Breton yet in all the years i have played but now im considering giving it a shot. i was thinking of creating a battlemage orienated Breton but im not sure how to strategize and what i would need to do to make him a successful character. so any advice would be appreciated.

My second question is, they say on the wiki that you should do quests at lvl 25 for better rewards. i would love to do this however i dont know how i should train efficiently and what "routine" i should do in order to accomplish this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

For my breton pure mage I picked the default mage class but swapped alchemy for blade. If your looking for efficient leveling big all hard to level skills as his mains, what ever attacks you are going to be using as your main picked those as minor. Thats what most people seem to say about efficient leveling. I picked easy to level skills like Alterarion,Destruction,Illusion, etc. and cast them over and over but I do not sleep until I leveled some minor skills so I can raise my attributes by plus 4 instead of +1.

-First 10 level ups. Work on Endurance, Strength and Agility/Speed.
-Next 10 level ups. Intelligence, Willpower, Endurance till 100 and, then back to strength.

There is no rush to get into using magicka right off. Slap on that heavy armor, pick up a blade/blunt weapon and bash some skulls in for awhile. Think of it as Boot Camp for your Mage.

Race/Gender: Breton / Female
Birthsign: The Mage
Specialization: Magic
Attributes: Strength, Endurance
Major Skills: Restoration, Mercantile, Speechcraft, Security, Acrobatics, Blade, Armorer

That's what I started my current character off with. First ten levels where hell with many near deaths as I opted to do the Fighters Guild quest line first after getting martin safe. After I got my sigil stone enchanted street clothes for 75DR (85DR with a 10% fire Shield necklace) at level 11 everything has been going smooth. Now at level 16 I just now have a good set of spells to use, have the Magicka performance to use them, and a 298HP buffer to stay alive long enough while using them.

Only real drag was mucking around with Arvena Thelas' rats to train block and heavy armor....Then there is clubbing/punching my horse for a few levels. Oh, getting destruction to 50 was a chore, but at least beyond 50 normal use will take care of the rest.

Forget the 'Efficient' leveling. If you don't level what you prefer to do, you'll have a pretty boring/ weak character. Stay away from the Arena, focus on the Mages Guild line and the town quests. You'll be fine.

For heaven's sake, get OOO. Otherwise the game twists everything around.. punishing you for using major skills, rewarding you for using minor skills. There's no way to make a rational character without a mod that fixes the [censored] leveling/scaling system.

Also don't use Bretons.. they're cheesy :P
