Possible WIP - Vivec Facelift

Post » Sat Aug 25, 2012 9:49 am

Anyone interested in a little collab for giving Vivec a small facelift?

Don't get me wrong, the vanilla one looks great and I like the mix of chinese canton and venetian watercity, but due to weak PCs at that time, they had to keep it all very simple. I'd like to add some more life to that place and have the city a place worthy to explore.

- new architectural parts, retextures
- More plants
- more people, a market
- new sounds
- maybe a couple new quests, maybe even a complete new district (cause cities don't stand still)

and so on...

It's a doable project, but I'd rather prefer a collab than working all on my own. In case you're interested, let me know here or by pm.

There is a lovely mod called vivec expansion which adds a very complex system of wooden walkways over the water between the cantons. I will upload it to MMH later so that you can take a look at it, but I'd love to see that kind of level of detail carried into the cantons themselves.

Found some screenies from that mod on the net. Doesn't look that bad. In fact I was also playing with the idea to surround Vivec with some kind of undercity, made of shacks on poles, where the poor folks will dwell. I always felt Vivec's apearance was way too clean, mainly because all was happening on the inside of those giant buildings.

I fear my facelift will require to make new models or at least modify the vanilla ones, cause I don't like frankensteining that much. I'd like to add further walkways, balconies, chinese style roofing, tons of clutter, new lamps, banners, signs etc. When you walk around the city, you should feel that there are actually people living in it.
