I just finished the main storyline there so please don't read this if you hate spoilers.
Anyhow, it was the creepiest story I"ve ever played in a game or saw in a movie or otherwise.
I can't help but feel that the girl i rescued and the mother were just trying to get rich. The brain supposedly used to be connected to a body that owned half of maryland and had family in the government it said. But I found no great sum of money.
At first the girl isn't worth saving all she's thinking about is getting rich. Not worth losing a part of my own brain. However, later she kind of 'saves' my life by telling me about the boat captain.
The boat captain owns up to what he did however, you never really find out whats really going on.
Future games should incorporate 'can't trust anybody' themes or really strange themes.
However, there was something missing that would of made the storyline more enjoyable.
1) I'd like storyline functions to remain enabled even if you do things that 'don't make sense'.
My first instinct was to kill the boat captain and for the mother to help me go to point lookout.
This was because she really wanted her daughter returned. But the boat captain took her only god knows where and didnt care that she was missing. And he implied i was only going there to make money.
I had 17,000+ caps on a previous character and wasnt trying that hard. On this character i had 1,000+ and didn't care about money. I just wanted to do good in the world and have fun doing it.
I ended up killing Desmond and the brain. Desmond for making me his dog and general evil. And the brain for being willing to cut peoples brains out to get slaves.
However, I never got to understand the whole story because of a lack of 'wrapping things up';
2) some mystery to a story is good especially to a mind curdler like this one...but it would be nice to get a wrap up sometimes.
3) finding someway to know if someone is truly good or evil or a liar etc. would be nice...even if its not a 100% accurate or isn't always present.
there are ways an intelligent person can find to get to the truth
But i wouldnt change point lookout much. It certainly was a ride and i enjoyed it. But these 3 things could of made it more enjoyable.
