Hi everybody.

I got The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim at Christmas 2011. When I first played it, my first thought was 'wow! I bet any other game I play in the future will never be as good as this!'. Three or four months passed and I just thought to myself; even though Bethesda did improve the graphics quite a lot (remember that I was playing Skyrim on the Xbox 360 at the time and I hadn't got Fallout: New Vegas for PC at that point, and I was playing Skyrim on a HD TV with a HDMI cable), I still just didn't enjoy playing it. At all. The main storyline was way to short, Skyrim itself was just, in general, a really boring place to play an Elder Scrolls game in. Don't get me wrong, I loved Elder Scrolls back in the day when everybody played Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I thought Skyrim would be epic, but it just wasn't the game it was hyped up to be. I'm so glad I kept Fallout: 3 for my Xbox 360 and I recently bought Fallout: New Vegas for my PC and play at the highest quality. I'v realized that Skyrim doesn't even compare to how good the Fallout games are. Does anybody else agree?

I think New Vegas is superior, in New Vegas I feel like a rational human being. SIding with Yes Man, or even walking the lonesome road and having your beliefs questioned by Ulysses, makes me feel like I made a choice and I had a say. In Skyrim, you only serve others and you have no opinion. Even if you do get the choice to say something, it's incredibly limited by the atrocious dialogue options and writing. To me, I value story,writing and dialogue moreso than I do graphics and sometimes gameplay. Sure, Skyrim has the graphics, but that's just not enough for me. I want to make an impact on the world of Skyrim, but not because someone else told me to, but because I wanted to.

I refuse to be everyone else's lapdog. The Dovahkiin is much better than that.

Plus, I play mostly mages and magic, specifically destruction magic, is incredibly weak without the aid of Alchemy or Enchanting.

Skyrim is repetitive and holds the players hand too much IMO.

You do the same types of quests from the same kind of bland characters in the same kind of dungeons facing the same kind of enemies for the same kind of loot so that you can increase the same kinds of skills just to do it all over again.
It's just dungeon crawling all the time, whole game is built up around it.

Therefor I prefer New Vegas as it allows me to really roleplay and not just rush into dungeons.
But don't get me wrong, dungeon crawlers can still be fun, Fallout 3 is evidence of that.
While I hate Fallout 3 as a Fallout game I love it as a dungeon crawler.
It has a lot of variety in it's loot, enemies, arcitechture, perks and weapons.
While it's a themepark it's a fun themepark, doesn't make a whole lot of sense but once you put that behind you it's fun to raid raiders.

So Fallout is definitely better than Skyrim.
Although posting this here will get you a very biased response, just as if you posted it in Skyrim's forum.

New Vegas completely stomps Skyrim into the dirt. I prefer a game with meaningful choices, good writing, and an interesting world. New Vegas trumps Skyrim in all those aspects. Considering Skyrim has no choices or any writing. No comparison, New Vegas wins every time.

New Vegas is better RPG.

Skyrim is a tedious mess of half-baked ideas to appeal to virtual LARPers poorly implemented on top of a game that is basically nothing but a giant dungeon crawler unfortunately cursed with horrendously repetitive and simplistic combat.

That's about exactly where I stand.

I could never finish Skyrim because the more I played, the more frustrating and boring it became and the more obvious the flaws became. I can't say I like the gameplay in New Vegas too much either, but the overall package there is something I've enjoyed for two playthroughs, and have steady intentions and interest to do two more to see the rest of the results.

yes fallout new vegas is way better than skyrim. Every time I play skyrim I quickly get bored but with this game I never get bored.

Nevermind that you can rarely click both at the same time and actually have it work or that there's practically no strategic implications of this system beyond Destruction's Impact perk; it's COOL!11!!!

The actual gameplay, the thing that matters, goes for NV so much it isn't funny.

How can anyone ask these kinda quiestions. FALLOUT ALL [censored] WAY. Hell i love TES and i LIKE Skyrim but they did make bunch of mistakes in skyrim and i didnt like that. Fallout new vegas had few mistakes and if Beth wouldn't have insisted on making Obsidian rush the game developing hten it would have been far the best game EVER

Bingo, too much ideas, all of them half-assed It's gonna take modders years after the final DLC to sort that mess out

Agreed, I was only able to finish Skyrim because I'm a masochist. I was wearing my gimp suit while playing.

I get that some people genuinely like Skyrim because they enjoy virtual role playing, and that's their prerogative, but I just couldn't get into it. The world was way too bland for high fantasy outside of Blackreach (a problem I also had with Oblivion), the gameplay had less depth than Oblivion, and while the main narrative was somewhat of an improvement over Oblivion's I found it extremely boring and felt that it dragged on for too long. As bad as Oblivion's story was, at least it was over with fairly quickly.

Suffice to say nothing in Skyrim appealed to me, so after I finished the main quest and rushed through the guild quest lines I shelved the game and never looked back - don't miss it at all.

Well I could just honestly just ignore most of the bad features if the core of the game was solid. But for a game that is relentlessly focused on combat the system they use is inexcusable. I mean no matter what weapon you use it basically just boils down to regular attack, power attack or block. The contrast with a game like Mount and Blade is staggering. You can chop, thrust and swing with a sword and each (including left or right swing) requires you to block in the right direction to parry successfully. Thrusts and chops do tons of damage but are slower and have less reach while swings are the opposite.

This is just basic stuff to make the core of your game exciting and intense for the player instead of a boring chore and I don't think Bethesda has any idea there's a problem. Hell maybe there isn't for most people given Skyrim's sales but something that's marketed as an action-"RPG" desperately needs to deliver on at least the action for me to derive any enjoyment from it.

It's like comparing a Tiger II to a jeep.

IMO, New Vegas, and easily so. While I'm already bored with Skyrim, I still actively play New Vegas. Also, after getting hyped about Skyrim... well, let's just say I don't get hyped up about anything very much anymore.
