Illy's Dirty Books

Post » Sat Sep 08, 2012 4:10 am

I've taken a break from modding and have been playing a lot in Skyrim lately - one of the things I have really enjoyed is the art style of the books - many are grungy and worn - or even ruined (though the book lover in me is horrified at those) - most of the books have pages that are hanging out and are tattered and torn

So I put down my controller this evening and decided to make my own dirty versions of the Morrowind books

Tthis might or not turn into a WIP and if it does I'm not sure if it will be a replacer or just a resource - in any case it is kind of nice to keep my hand in modding even if it is just for a bit of fun

Here's the first few dirty books I did

I had to invent my own book edge and am still tossing around whether it has too many pages or not - though you probably can't tell from the angles I took these screenshots from

Those books look great! I especially like the 3.d one. Nice work!

Just 297 more to go and you could release a welcome alternative to Book Jackets. :twirl:

Seriously though, whatever project they end up in, they look good.

Very, very nice. They look so... real. Remember me of my old library when I was a child... :)
I hope they'll make their way into a full mod!

...though when I first saw the thread title I was unsure if it was about old, stained books, or books with bawdy tales. :P

Those could be arranged. :whistling:

Looks beautiful! Though it seems appropriate that Dunmer take better care of their books than those barbarian Nords--just like they take better care of their personal hygiene. :P Actually, I cannot tell you how frustrating I find it that there is not a single bookstore in all of Skyrim. I'm an English major! Where's my virtual Barnes & Noble since I can't afford the real one?! :(

I don't use book jackets, but I would certainly look into using these. You should finish and release them, Illy. :hehe:
