Crysis 2 PC Gaming script mod

Post » Mon Sep 10, 2012 6:10 am

Hey guys.

I'm modifying several Crysis 2 game scripts (such as the NanoSuit and the Weapon scripts) in order to bring Crysis 2 to a "true PC gaming" state.

By "true PC gaming" I mean unrestricted weapon customization, faster movement, considerably less-OP cloak, higher weapon accuracy and dramatically tighter hip-fire accuracy...

Changes so far:

NANOSUIT CHANGELOG

-Increased base speed modifier, from 1.25x to 1.75x (this in turn enhances maximum speed from 9 m/s to 12.6 m/s, about 28mph. Now it makes sense that you get speed tickets in 25mph speed radars!)

-Removed the lateral movement speed decrease: In vanilla Crysis 2, your strafing speed is 70% of your forwards speed. You can now move with the same speed in all directions and thus zig-zag/dodge effectively while using Maximum Speed.

-Increased Maximum Speed energy consumption significantly but not dramatically.

-Increased Cloak Mode's energy consumption, particularily at high speeds (with Stealth Enhance, you'll drain your cloak in just a few seconds if you sprint)

-Decreased consumption of Maximum Strength actions (except Power Jump), from 100% to 25%.

-Decreased the minimum energy needed to use NanoSuit powers after the Suit's been disabled/Energy depleted, from 25% Suit Energy to 15% Suit Energy.

WEAPONS CHANGELOG

-Dramatically increased hip-fire accuracy of the SCAR and its attachments (soon to be all weapons)

-Unlocked several attachments for the SCAR:
-Extended Mag (Also added semi-automatic fire mode to the Extended Mag)
-Shotgun Attachment (Also increased shotgun attachment ammo to 6/12)
-Silencer
-Laser Sight (Also made it so that it will aim down the IRON SIGHT, not zoom)

-Removed reloading delay of the SCAR and its attachments (Now as soon as the magazine is in/weapon is cocked/ammo counter goes up, the weapon is ready to fire and you are ready to sprint)

-Reduced transition times to and from Aiming Down Sights for all Optics to Multiplayer times

-Fixed ridiculous sensitivity when using the Assault Scope

-Removed Armor Mode zoom bonus for all SCAR optics and attachments

My mod is SP-oriented and obviously our personal touches and balances will be different :)

Only the NanoSuit and the SCAR have been modified so far.

Ah ok sweet, isn't there like loads of singleplayer mods on Crydev that do all that stuff already?

There are, and I did download lots of them, but I didn't like their particular balances.

Some make the hipfire too accurate, some make the speed way too fast, some consume too much energy, some don't consume enough...

This is my particular take on how this balance should be, basing it on both my personal preferences and my lengthy experience with Crysis and Warhead SinglePlayer.

Honestly, I don't think it'll take me too long to release at least a preview version. I fully intend to take feedback into account as far as balancing goes, so long as I believe the suggestions to be positive.

I've pretty much finished the NanoSuit and the SCAR and it's only been one-two days.

Nice, but if you need time, take as much as you need.

Are you reducing the spread by changing the MaxX and maxY values? Does this automatically reduce the crosshair size? That's one thing I've been looking for, smaller crosshairs.

I'm reducing it by changing the "max" value under , changing "speed_m" to zero or near zero (depending on if you want movement spread changes or not) and the spread_jump_m to "1". It DOES automatically reduce crosshair size.

Speed_m multiplies and adds the result to the base value. It CAN go avobe "max".

Spread_jump_m multiplies and the final result is this multiplication, not sure if it can go avobe max 'cause I just set it to "1".

BTW: Added "Removed Armor Mode zoom bonus for all SCAR optics and attachments" to the changelog.

By the way, I′m wondering.

On Crysis 2 you could actually run to the sides but only in a 45o move, is there a chance you can modify it to turn it into strafe run?

I want to, but this is not done by scripts (AFAIK). I can't for the hell of me find where this is, and, again AFAIK, I think this is hardcoded into the game and not changeable.

I am trying, however, to implement single-shot/alternate firemodes into all weapons so that you can Animation-cancel with all of them and thus reload/slide and reload/sprint.

I have absolutely no idea how to do it yet, but I'll look into it next.

EDIT: Oh sh*t you also remind me of another change I did:

Crysis 2 has by default a lower speed for strafing. 0.7x (70% of the forwards speed). While sprinting, one could notice that you would barely zig-zag if you tried: This is because of this lower speed: The angle was NOT 45o.

I made it into 1x (same speed in all directions) and this made it MUCH easier to dodge things.
