I can't sleep in the bedroll, please advise!

Post » Sat Feb 27, 2010 1:38 am

I have been able to go up a level for a while now and I can probably go up two now. I have the red circular arrow at the bottom of the screen indicating I can level up. I found this dungeon in the wilderness that I purposely explored to use the bedroll only to level. When I killed everyone inside, I couldn't use the bedroll! Are there still bad guys in the dungeon I don't know about? I searched the whole place a few times and I couldn't find anyone. Why won't the game let me sleep in the bedroll so I can finally level? Didn't want to use the portable bedroll mod but if I can't use the normal bedroll and there is no reason I can't then I have no choice. Can anyone help me solve this without the bedroll mod? thanks all

What message shows up in the corner of the screen when you try to sleep?

Does it say "You can't sleep when there are enemies nearby"? If so, you have to kill any nearby threats.

Or does it say "You cannot sleep in an owned bed"? Does the cursor turn red when you hover over the bed? If so, you're simply not allowed to sleep there. Ever.

I suggest you go outside, fast travel to an Inn, or city, or your house, and sleep there. You don't have to level instantly, you can stay the way you are forever, without leveling.

use holy assassin's advice, if that is not applicable then perhaps it is a mod issue or one of oblivions many glitches

It doesn't give me a message. The sleep icon with the moon and stars appears when I point towards the bedroll. When I press the button to sleep, the icon flickers but nothing else happens. There is no message on the screen anywhere.

This looks like a glitch because there is no rational explanation for this. Looks like fast travel time for me (or manually walking back for more leveling) :P

It is most likely an issue with mods, if you're using them.

I can't sleep in any beds now anywhere, not even at the inns. When I use the portable bedroll mod, I don't level either. Everything was working fine and I've leveled by sleeping before because I am level 4. Any one know what is wrong with my game?

I figured out what was wrong. It was the See You Sleep mod. I disabled that and now I can sleep and gain levels again. thanks again

I've had trouble with that mod before, I think it's a little buggy.

Yes, the game is so well established and wiki'd and anolyzed that when someone presents a glitch that is not well-known, it normally turns out to be a mod conflict. As soon as you completed Holy Assassin's troubleshooting steps with no joy, I was pretty sure it was a mod conflict.

In some cases, not having UOP turns out to be the problem because even though it is well documented, most of us forget about the glitches that UOP has fixed for us.

At any rate, glad you got it sorted. :)

I have UOP installed and patches for every DLC as well. And it is still doing this with See You Sleep.
