The Moon and the Lily #4 (beginning of the plague)

The Moon and the Lily.
Roleplay thread #4 (beginning of the plague)

4E 207. Hearthfire month
The civil war has end, the imperials driven out of the north and Skyrim remains a land of independent kingdoms who barely talk to each other, the dream of a united land and under a single high king is a long forgotten fairytale. Few dragons still roam but most are driven out by different knightly orders of dragon hunters
Three years have pasted since the great showdown in the woods of Falkreath.
The wolf-pack barely holding together after the loss of several high influenced members now turns their attention towards the remaining wolfs for new leadership.
While on the other side of the past conflict is the old and tired Markus Liberty, only remaining member of the Order of the Lily, trying hard to establish a new chapel and guild of Dibella in the city of Solitude.

(If you want to discuss the role play or want to http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1407044-the-moon-and-the-lily-2/# please do so in this thread: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1406441-the-moon-and-the-lily-sign-upooc-2/)

Welcome to the forth thread in the second chapter of our roleplay, there are a few guidelines i would like to mention:
1. if you are going to say something outside of the roleplay then please do it by writing OOC before the comment
OOC = out of character.
But we still prefer that you write it in the sign up/OOC thread
2. this is a freestyle roleplay, that means we have no set storyline to follow, our characters do as they please, but we still need to avoid multiple separate storyline's going on in the same thread so we should always try and include each other in whatever our characters are doing.
3. Don’t be afraid of being hostile towards each others, conflict is always fun.
4. If you want one of the other members characters to do something specific towards your character, then take it up with them in the OOC thread or throughout PM's
I also recommend everyone check out the pined thread called “so you think you can roleplay” there’s a lot of good advised there on how to make an interesting character

The Nord smiled warmly, and replied," Pleased to meet you, Phenix. I am Svanir Windblade." He frowns at the mentioning of his last name, and then he adds, "But you can call me Svanir." "I'd gladly join anyone who'd offer me a drink." He let out a laugh and took a seat near Phenix.

*Morthal Inn-Main Hall*

"Svanir what a nice name. * Leaned over and whispered in his ear*, but why the sad expression on your face when you mentioned your last name?" Feeling deep in my soul I knew he had a story to tell. *Gently puts her hand on yours,* you can share if you wish I am a good listener."

He looked over to her and felt the need to pull his hand away, but didn't. There were noticeable scars on the hand that Phenix had her hand resting on. Svanir looked at his scars- they appeared to be made by burns of some sort- before he started to tell her his story. "I grew up in Windhelm; my father there was a great blacksmith. He could forge just about anything that he put his mind to. Eventually I took up the trade, learning how to smith swords, then armor. Our shop was named The Windblade... it was a name my pa wasn't so sure of, but it just stuck after a while." He paused for a minute, and then continued, "At one point he fell ill and I was to take over- I did, of course. The people of Windhelm admired my talent, but then the Civil war started to effect Windhelm and its businesses... I lost The Windblade, to some newcomers. Said I didn't have the speed that the Stormcloaks needed in order to make weaponry for them. Anyhow, my brother -who was a Stormcloak guard- went off on duty towards the border of Morrowind, and my pa died not too long after that." He frowned again and turned his attention towards the fireplace. "Been drowning my sorrows in mead ever since." he mentioned half-heartedly, obviously sounding hurt by retelling his story. There was more for him to tell about his brother, but he didn't wish to expand on that just yet. He fell into a silence, waiting for the mead to arrive.

*My eyes teared up*, as he told his story of his family. I could tell it was very painful for him to speak on this issue, and I was honored he chose me to tell it too. "There, there, my new friend all will be better in time, *as I put my hand on his shoulder.* I know nothing of my past or if I do have any family alive, so in a small way think of your memories as being blessings not pain." *Tear falls down my cheek.*

Svanir looked back towards Phenix as she started to cry. He cleared his throat and wasn't sure what to do. "Aye" he stated firmly and when the mead was finally placed on the table close to him , he grabbed it and took a swig. "You shouldn't shed tears for a stranger; I may die tomorrow." he joked slightly, placing the bottle back on the table. The hand that brandished the scars began to pulse and he winced. Svanir pulled his hand away from Phenix, hoping she didn't notice.

*Looks down as he pulls away, smiles, and wipes the tear from my cheek.* "Stranger? You are not but a stranger to me anymore you shared a piece of your heart and now I feel connection with you." Thinking I better lighten the mood up around here quick before my heart on the sleeve mentality scares this man away... "Barkeep! What do ya say to some playing cards, you have any?" *Nudges Ra' in the arm so tell me my friend hows our guy look in there is Lax better, and do you feel up to some card games?" Thinking to myself she's a betting type I hope I can hold on to what coin I left. *Smirks.....*

[ooc: No class for me today, yay!]

"Card game? I'm rusty with cards. Why not play a game with your friend there and I'll see if I can catch on." he replied rather interested. If she was quick enough with speech skills, she'd be able to tell that he was lying through his teeth. Svanir had never laid his hands on a deck of cards in his life!

The warm and comfortable feel of the tavern was quickly derailed when Markus and his two depressing followers slammed the door open. Not even bothering to close it they wen ahead and ordered five large mugs of vine. When the transaction was done the barkeeper ask polite if he could close the door, but was ignored. The group went ahead and sat down on one of the corner tables in complete solitude from the other guests, the vine arrived and and they began talking

“Your such and idiot Kan! We could of paid a lot less for that old wreck” Markus was obviously not stressed by the situation but still felt the need to let out some rage on the poor Redguard.
“Stop kidding around, it was a bargain Markus, now we can get the heck out of this cold place, ah! Imagine, the beaches of Sentinel or the savannas of Rihad!” the redguard was completely overwhelmed by the thoughts of home”
“I was more thinking of heading to High Rock, I had enugh sand in my boots growing up in that desert.

They keept arguing for quiet a few minutes whiteout noticing the others at the inn

Svanir couldn't help but hear the ruckus in the corner of the inn. "We've all got our mishaps, but for the love of the Gods, would you mind lowering your voices?" he asked fairly irritated. The mead was starting to effect him.

"So what if she haven been blessed, i think she can handle the sea of ghost easy enough? Kan said.
"cant we at lest by her a maiden? Something to hang at the front?"This where the first words to came out of the the Nords mouth that evening
"we're out of drakes” said Markus while lightning a smoke.
“what about selling that chape...!”
the redguard was halfway through the sentence when he was interrupted by Savnir, everyone around the table went quiet and looked at him.

Svanir simply allowed the quietness to fill in the space between the two of them. He further made his point clearly understood by standing up from his seat, facing the Redguards and Markus in a hostile way. The fellow Nord awaited a response from the group, if they had enough courage to reply.

Markus remained seated but gave in a response
“Piss of child, don’t interfere when grown ups are talking”
and the conversation began once again.
“But isn’t safer to travel east?” The rumours have it that the plauge comes from the western kingdoms” said Markus, enjoying his smoke
"Rumour? This is no rumour and I made that clear! I'm a doctor from Hammerfell after all and unlike my former classmates I paid attention!"

The muscles on Svanir's face went tense for a moment, and he was urged to reply with a fist to Markus' face when he talked to him demeaningly. Svanir let the anger in him subside and was about to reclaim his seat when the word "plague" caught his attention. He moved closer to them and once more broke the conversation. "What plague?" he questioned a little more friendly this time around.

Markus looked puzzled at Svanir for a moment but eventually responded.
“Ain’t none of your darn business, that’s what it is”
The redguard looked slightly annoyed at Markus’s behavior
“Don’t be like that boss, let the boy in on it, do your little introduction, that usually makes you feel better”
“Fair enough” Markus got up from he’s chair and prepared his introduction.
“We are the order of the Lily reborn! Defenders of house Dibella and all the divines, we aim to keep Tamriel a healthy religious place and all that stuff and... I’m really not in the mood for this.... Alright.. Kid, there’s a new kind of disease raging havoc in Hammerfell, people are turned in the reptile looking corpses and then they die, we happened to have one of those dead reptile like body’s here in Mortal and are getting out of here as soon as possible.

"A lizard-man...like a werecrocodile? From, where was it...Blackmarsh??" he inquired and then went on to say, "Maybe the Gods aren't happy with Hammerfall, so They start making people ill. Where do you plan on taking the monster?" His green eyes now looked concerned. With Skyrim under Stormcloak control, the last thing they needed was an unknown infestation.

Laxador finally managed to step out of the room, walking in an awkward way. His head was spinning.
"Turning into Lizards, eh?" he said to Markus. "I know what you're talking about, it's not a disease, I hope you know that. Its Hircine at work."

“Its certainly is a disease, I’m a doctor, i know this stuff, and its not a crocodile, its something else, something incomplete, that’s for sure” said Kan
“that’s why I’m here actually, to inform the city of Morthal to dispose of the body as soon as possible, that was... after Markus convinced me to join his order, he claims just like you, that this is the goods way of punishing the people of Hammerfell. And i certainly don’t think deadra is behind it, that’s superstition and I’m an educated man."

*finally moves from his little knook in the room and walks straight over to Markus, already tired of him not acting like the old Markus he fought with years before and puts a hand on his shoulder a stern look on his face*
"Whats going on? This is how we catch up, we had a brief talk in that tavern in the other town and now you act as if you hardly remember me...."
*stares him down n without moving his face eyes the other men with him, both already getting drunk or drunk*

Ra intently listened to all the conversations that were being thrown about. Eyes close ears constantly moving trying to hear the most that she could...
