The Second Armageddon?

Post » Sun Feb 28, 2010 12:38 pm

Well, as some of you know, BOMB 001 was a cut location from Van Buren which was to be the end game location and as the name would lead you to believe, it involves bombs and nuclear weapons.

BOMB001 was a orbital station which housed many nuclear weapons, and you were to stop Dr. Presper (The Antagonist of Van Buren.) from destroying parts of the world to 'cleanse' the wasteland, leaving way for the repopulation of a pure human race.

Before you stopped him, he launched the nuclear arsenal and it was too late... for some.
You would have been able to save few cities and locations from a second holocaust, but the rest were doomed to destruction... a second armageddon.

So, since this area has never been told as non-existant, what is the possiblity of this happening and how would you see it happen?

This is part of the reason why I'm glad VB wasn't made. I think this is where it got far too silly.

I think a "2nd Apocolypse" would have to be smaller and local - the WBOS taking a desperate last measure against the NCR that causes it to collapse.

Yeah if that was to be the ending then I'm glad VB didn't get made too' Just sounds like the enclave platform from BS. I personally wouldn't like to see this idea implimented at all.

I don't want that to happen.

I don't think there will be another Armageddon, I know war nevr changes and its only a matter of time but I want to see the rest of America before starting all over. If Fallout was ever to end it would be fitting if it ended in a another Nuclear War.

I could imagine the ending lines...

"As the world was once again consumed in flames, all that was restored was destroyed in one moment and everyone who struggled to rebuild and survive lay dead, but war... war never changes."

Even as a fan of the original games, if there is one thing that I dislike about Van Buren was the idea of the nukes at the end. It basically forces you to make a sadistic decision in the cheapest manner possible and I just don't like that idea.

But back to the topic, I don't think a full scale nuclear holocaust will be likely, since there aren't that many nukes left after the war to start with, and the resources and industrial capability required to make a new one or even to repair an leftover one to an operational condition will be massive. At most, it will be a small scale destruction that will nuke a single town/city. Anything more will seem a but silly.

The BOMB001 had only 8 missiles by the time the Great war started, so it hardly would have caused a second Armageddon, since that would require a lot more then 8 missiles plus nukes, the most that would have happen, would have been a small of the wastelands being nuked, again.
But is a second Armageddon possible? Sooner or later the world of fallout will reach the levels of the prewar era, by then, whether or not people have change, there is a possibility of another Armageddon happening again, because war...war never changes.

Second Armageddon as in NCR being destroyed by those missles. Last hope for the Wasteland being nuked off the planet. Shady Sands and Seven other NCR Cities would have been a big lose and would cause the fall of NCR.

The BOMB001 was designed to hold 24 missiles but there was only 8 missiles when the great war started

It would be just like that. But instead of DLC that you could opt not to play, it would be part of the main quest.

I'm glad we got Fallout 3 instead, Liberty prime is nowhere near as lame as this.

Not quite... If a city was nuked, then the results of your actions obviously arent covered in the ending slides (other than perhaps a "you nuked it, everyones dead, yada yada" message)

Remember that history will repeat itself. But something like one man with an orbital satellite won't happen. Probably, the West and the East of America would duke it out and then launch nukes, restarting the whole process over again.

This. The 2nd American Civil War will probably bring a small scale nuclear conflict with it.
