High Rock Today?

Post » Sat Sep 29, 2012 2:09 am

I'm just wondering what the political, culteral and all things like that situation is in High Rock, at the time of Skyrim. Perhaps I'm not looking in the right places, but I can't seem to find anything. The reason is that I like to RP, but I don't think this sort of question belongs anywhere but here.

Thanks again.

In order to understand where someone is today, one needs to know how they got there. I think you will find the history you need here:

Also, this is the correct section for this thread. :)

We don't really know much about Highrock in the modern era. Cicero's journal says that corsairs raided the city of Wayrest in 188, which suggest that coastal raids are common following the Great War. The war front didn't go into Highrock, so while I imagine many of their people ended up fighting in the war anyway, the province itself probably remained relatively unharmed. Chances are that the war and the separation of Hammerfell also increased trade and manufacture. 20 years later, they are probably fairly prosperous, much like they were in the late 3rd era.

Well Orsinium was destroyed and later rebuilt in Hammerfell, so it's no longer in Breton territory these days. I'm not sure how much this actually influences the way High Rock would be portrayed. But it probably influenced the militarism and economy in some degree.

Thanks very much guys. I imagine it would be pretty normal, as in not ravaged by a war that took place there. Do you think it would also be fairly multiracial? I always thought that elves of most kinds wouldn't be wanted in Cyrodiil or Skyrim, so perhaps most went to HIgh Rock instead?

The Dunmer? I kind of doubt there was a huge migration to High Rock. The Nords gave the Solstheim and welcomed them in the wake of Red Year.

Do those Forsworn tribes extend into High Rock next to Skyrim?

I wonder how the Direnni clan is doing these days? I wonder if they are aligned with the Aldmeri Dominion instead of the Empire, or neither.

I should of clarified more, I meant the Altmer and the Bosmer, more so than the Dunmer. Sorry.

I thought the Direnni Clan was forced out of High Rock, or that the Bretons eventually just outnumbered them?

Well, back at the beginning of the 4th Era, the Thalmor was known to be murdering Altmeri/Bosmeri dissidents on their Isle of Balfiera (having presumably fled there after fleeing Summerset), so if the Direnni have been harboring dissidents, they are likely not on friendly terms. However, those murders took place quite a long time ago now. Who knows what their position is 175 years later.

I thought the Direnni Clan was forced out of High Rock, or that the Bretons eventually just outnumbered them?

The Direnni Clan (as far as I remember) still rules over the Isles of Balfiera, but I think that is the extent of their rule. Still, I bet plenty of their clan is still spread throughout High Rock, just under human rule.
