Hosecarl question

I have a mod in mind regarding changing your housecarls in Skyrim. I'm for lore friendliness.
Would you think that would be lore braking in any way? Also what about a monthly wage for the housecarls and if you fail to pay they will leave your service?
Thanks

I can't recall any ES specific lore related to Housecarls, so (as much as most people on the lore forums seems to dislike it) the closest thing you will find to a ¨lore-friendly¨ housecarl is in it's real world counterpart. In pre-medieval Scandinavian culture, housecarls were men sworn to service with a lord (thane) or other noblemen such as jarls. They were not indentured servants, however, unlike thralls; they willingly served the lords in exchange for either status or more concrete things such as money or land holdings, however these were usually relatively small. Unlike other servants, however, housecarls almost exclusively served as warriors (like bodyguards) or military advisors.

As for your mod and possible modes of payment, I'd say something not too steep, but still substantial enough to last them through the month, so 500g per month maybe?
