Friendlier Leveling?

Hello,

I'm somewhere around Level 4-5 and I decided I'll have a look on how leveling truly works as I wasn't sure what's the the 3 attributes I'm selecting at each new level really means. I figured out the leveling system is rather complex, and that the game might become rather un-playable end-game based on the multipliers. I understand a lot of people using mods to improve leveling and to avoid those extra skills tweaking. I did some research, but most of the modes seemed too complex. My requirements are pretty basic:

* A mod that stays true to the game developers spirit - Extreme change in how leveling works doesn't suit me (I seen mods that add XP to the game...). With that said, I still want to avoid the multipliers issue.

* Clean Mod that I can just 'plug and play' - I prefer not to start playing with configurations now

* Retroactive - If possible, I would love if the change would be retroactive (as I'm level 4-5)

To sum it all, just a mod that will let me play the game without thinking too much about my leveling path :)
Some posts also mentioned the Monsters leveling in game is also an issue, so any recommendation to a mod that fix that is also appreciated (same game - clean and simple).

Thank you!

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/35333 is my favourite. It still has stat/skill allocation and the need to sleep, so it's closer in that sense to vanilla than say, http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/13879 or http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/14065.

There really aren't many leveling mods that don't alter the system a lot, and therefore better. Let's face it, the original system svcked really badly. Oblivion XP is also retroactive and the default configuration is great.

If you want something unique, theres also http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23322 which makes it so you pay for levels with gold and then allocate state/skills like in Oblivion XP. It has it's merits and with mods like Enhanced Economy you can really control how hard or easy you want the levleing experience to be. Also it actually makes dungeon diving and questing that doesn't involve a lot of combat far more rewarding. In any "natural" leveling mod or vanilla, most of the level progression is focused around using skills, even when you don't want to be or don't have to.

Which is why I prefer Oblivion XP or Wrye, both allow you to level up by exploring, bartering, questing and even reading books (in the case of ObXP).

Actually, I pretty liked the 'The more your using a skill the stronger it gets' idea. I only disliked the Multiplier philosophy that 'makes' me level tons of skills before a level up in order to get those multiplier. But I'll give Oblivion XP a go.
