I finally decided to get Fallout and I'am wondering if I should get Fallout 1 and 2 before 3.Also will I miss a huge chunk of the story if I skip 2 & 1?

As far as the story is concerned, they aren't really connected, and can be played separately without any problems. 1&2 takes place on the west coast of America and 3 takes place on the east coast.

You would know more about the game universe though, and they are good games, so I do recommend you to play the some time. But you don't really need to do that before you play Fallout 3. Instead get them if you enjoy Fallout 3 lots and want to experience more of the series. Although be aware that 1&2 play very differently than 3.

I suggest you do get Fallout One and Two first. You can buy them pretty cheap and they come ready to play from GoG.com.

The story in Fallout 3 isn't connected to Fallout 2. But the main factions you encounter in the game are from the West Coast. The BoS are in Fallout and Fallout 2 and the Enclave are in Fallout 2. Since these factions can't be avoided and you are forced to side with BoS. Playing the Orginals will give you a better understanding of their history. It will also give you a much better understanding of the Fallout Universe, which Fallout 3 just fails at.

The game does explain the history of the Brotherhood, but I can't believe the number people that seem to miss all that and think the BoS formed in DC.

Also have you given any thought to Fallout New Vegas?

Also don't forget about Fallout Tactics :fallout:

Very differently as in overhead view a la Zelda games, amongst other things. I recommend youtube if you want to see what they look like ingame, OP :)
