New Vegas Convention Interest Checksign up

Post » Fri Oct 12, 2012 2:07 pm

I looked through the archives and the conventions in the old days tended to be more lore based. I had an OK time in the "America" based conventions but they are so far removed from New Vegas I had no real frame of reference. That said is there any interest in an old fashioned New Vegas Convention? Moderated my yours truly, the convention would be set shorty Before and After the Second Battle of Hoover Ham with advancements by 3 or 6 month periods. If there is a lot of interest we can use smaller factions. Here are the currently available factions.

NCR-
Legion-
House-
Primm-
Goodsprings-
Powder Gangers-
BoS-
Black Mountain-
Jacobstown-
Boomers-
Khans-
Fiends-

In this world DLC events don't and can't happen mainly because some of us may not have played the DLC yet. So no you can't just launch nukes from Lonesome Road at your problems or whatever. Furthermore no "post-scarcity" machines. so no Vending Machines etc to bring an utopia or God Mode your opponents.

If you have any questions just ask. Can't wait to rp with you all.

Yeah, I don't see why we can't have more than one going at any given time. It's not like it takes that long to read a thread. I'm not saying let's stop the other convention to do this one.

Indeed.

This is basically a twin of "The American Convention MK2", which is currently ongoing.

Not really, the MK2 Conventions aren't geographically based in the Mojave, the last time I checked the interest check page they were talking about a Washington Federation or something. This is New Vegas Vanilla Mojave based rping.

1.) You haven't decided the events of Hoover Dam
2.) That'd be like taking the premise of let's say, Batman and saying it's not in Gotham it's in Arizona and it'd be totally different...

Okay, might just want to run it by Bosmight. I won't be joining, the American Convention is plenty for me.

It's set 3 months before the Second Battle for Hoover Dam with the Mojave as it seen in game, with the courier not being a factor. Depending on what happens in the convention the Second Battle might not even happen although I doubt that would be the case considering the Legion Rplayer wouldn't yield.

The Convention series of RP threads go back long before the current America convention. The very first original one was actually set in New Vegas and dealt with New Vegas factions. Later on, one or two were on the East Coast as well (I made those actually).

So Fresh Air is perfectly able to make his own convention thread.

That said, I most likely won't be joining this one. These small scale threads seem so tame now compared to what we have been doing in the American Convention and they never last for more than one thread usually anyway. They have trouble holding interest.

I understand, I used to be bobfalloutfan, and I quite enjoyed those old conventions, I just wish we could bring them back, maybe reformat them or something?

I respect your decisions to run a vanilla based convention but after a while they lose interest. I toyed with the idea of AC being more like a political RP and breaking the lore limits which in the end now, AC is a politcal RP grandeur. :) The PRB is still open and you are welcomed to join back if you wish to.

I'm fine, I love what you guys have done with the America conventions but it's just not my style of role playing and now that you all are on the 20th one I'm so far behind on the lore of the American conventions themselves it would take days to catch up reading it. I understand the vanilla based conventions tend to die very quickly, maybe they could be more story and character based? My favorite ones where the ones that just devolved into shooting and fighting matches around the shambles of a failing peace conference. Lt. don't you remember the NCR based convention with the Veteran Rangers dying by the handful and Marco getting disabled? Surely that was fun in it's own unique way?

I assure you, they can fill you in real quick...

(I hadn't participated in any of the conventions before this one.)

Oh yes, don't get me wrong. The original conventions were a blast as well. I have fond memories of them. Heck I moderated quite a few myself.

East Coast Convention was fun.:) Remember the very first AC on with the War of Ideas, good memories and the precursor now to AC now.

It tends to be disrespectful to start a convention (regardless of your opinions on how they should run), while there is one already going on. It's similar to being at a birthday party, disagreeing with it, so you start your own party on the same day, and try to have the party-goers go to yours. All-the-while you could just wait until it's over.

Well the difference being that our "birthday party" has been continuously on-going for the better part of three or four months.
