The Dragonish Skill

Assuming that this deserves a topic of its own...

I've been hearing every so often discussion about what Bethesda may or may not do in order to replace Dragonshouts in the next TES title. Surely, they could not just simply remove a feature that had been so profound in TESV, especially with the fanbase created by thus title? A lot of people are attached to it, not including myself, since I have been with the franchise since the birth of Morrowind.

I have an idea, that when I think about it, should have been implemented in TESV: Skyrim. However, that wasn't the case, thus nothing can be done about it now (unless a super duper modification is made.)

I would like to see the Dragonish skill return from TESII: Daggerfall. That upon increasing, will grant the player perks that are basically Dragonshouts. This skill might also be able to explain why those who aren't THE Dragonborn, are able to learn and utilize such a tool.

As mentioned previously, I think this would have been preferable in TESV: Skyrim (in my opinion, though I truly feel that this should have been nonetheless) to having your character The Chosen One... especially considering that these games are meant for you to be whoever you want, and not someone else.

I just find that the main quest in the fifth chapter of the elder scrolls franchise to be rather intrusive to my role-playing experience. Instead of a main quest, and even side quests, there should just be 'quests' - that vary in scope depending on what actions you take during or before them.

In Morrowind and Arena, I only felt that my destiny or fate was a coincidence and something I would have never assumed. In Skyrim, it's quite obvious and in my face. Everyone knows that you're some 'THE Dragonborn'... far from the rumors spoken of such kind of destiny in Morrowind, that was in a different, more subtle tone than Skyrim.

Perhaps the main quest, with Alduin and the Prophecy of the Dragonborn, would be okay on my end had Dragonshouts been acquired more naturally (via Dragonish training at the Temple of Kynareth aka a tribute to Daggerfall, before further and deeper training with the Greybeards) instead of from Word Walls dotted randomly around the province of Skyrim in place of whatever else could have been. And that let's face it, weren't even on Bethesda's mind before Skyrim was codified (hence not so much as part of the lore as older, more established material. At least before Skyrim was released.)

Anyway, I might not have touched up on everything I felt like saying, but I'll leave it at that.

I guess I might as well be the first one to say, "spellmaking."
