The Elder Scrolls Lore for Dummies

Post » Wed Oct 17, 2012 9:18 pm

I present a summary of the Elder Scrolls lore. This is a translation, the french version is available http://forum.wiwiland.net/index.php?/topic/53518-le-lore-des-elder-scrolls-pour-les-nuls/
I will soon add another version on TIL.

Most of my quotes are obscure texts (written on forums by game developers), anolysis, and even some Monkey Truth (fan-made but really good lore text). 99% of the anolysis can be done thanks to in-game books (mainly the 36 Sermons, The Mysterium Xarxes) and all the in-game dialogues, but it would be nearly impossible, and would sometimes seem far-fetched ;with obscure texts, all becomes clear.
I also quote some Monkey Truth (very good fan made texts) and anolysis ; read http://www.imperial-library.info/content/serminuxia-marukhati-sermons, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1361197-pentannual-census-of-the-houses-of-morrowind-post-red-year-4e-166/, the http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1249697-on-boethiahs-summoning-day/, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1410912-what-appears-to-be-the-maormeri-creation-myth/, http://www.monkeytruth.net/texts/dragonbreak.shtml, and so ans so...

First, there is a goddly entity, named "Godhead". http://forum.wiwiland.net/index.php?/topic/52737-savoirs-et-anolyses-sur-lunivers-des-elders-scrolls/page__st__25#entry706560, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1348660-the-delusion-of-the-godhead/, http://www.imperial-library.info/content/more-psijic-endeavor

This Godhead can be considered as mad (as having a lot of personality, for example) or/and as dreaming. Thus are created Anu and Padomay, Stasis and Change, being and non-being... By subgradience (in the TES, division into smaller things, sometimes with mixture), all will be created.
First, Anu and Padomay give birth to Anuiel and Sithis , forces of Stasis and Change (even if they may be combined), and their mixture, descending another gradient, gives the Et'adas.

One of them, the "Snake God of Space", realizes he is only a dream/creation of the Godhead. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/etada-eight-aedra-eat-dreamer

""
The Aedroth Aka, who goes by so many names as to perhaps already suggest what I'm about to commit to memospore, is completely insane. His mind broke when his "perch from Eternity allowed the day" and we of all the Aurbis live on through its fragments, ensnared in the temporal writings and erasures of the acausal whim that he begat by saying "I AM". In the aetheric thunder of self-applause that followed (nay, rippled until convention, that is, amnesia), is it any wonder that the Time God would hate the same-twin on the other end of the aurbrilical cord, the Space God? That any Creation would become so utterly dangerous because of that singular fear of a singular word's addition: "I AM NOT"?
""

Aka (The Dragon God of Time) says "I AM". Most people do this. Lorkhan answers "I AM NOT". In fact, he isn't really, because he's only the dream of the Godhead. All will be based on this opposition ; The Lorkhanics being try to "go out" the Godhead, to free them from him and thus say really "I AM" (They can be seen as Padomayacs, because what happens "in" the Godhead is a stasis for him, people Are not, and they want change, Sithis), others, like Aka (Anuics) want to stay as they are (do they know that they are only in the imagination of the Godhead? Or are they so Anuic they think "I Am" (Anu : being)).
Lorkhan tries to escape. And he he proposes to create the Mundus http://www.imperial-library.info/content/monomyth http://www.imperial-library.info/content/cosmology http://www.imperial-library.info/content/loveletter-fifth-era-true-purpose-tamriel .

Why? We'll see later

The Et'Adas who help Lorkhan are the aedra, the others are the daedra. But just before finishing, some, like Magnus, realize that they will be so bound to the Mundus, that they will "die" (Well, diying for an Et'Ada, can be seen as being unable to act fully) and they flee (they become the Magne-Ge http://www.imperial-library.info/content/magne-ge-pantheon, Sometimes called Magna Ge http://www.imperial-library.info/content/mythic-dawn-commentaries, it isn't sure it is only used for singular.), the other (most of the other) are unhappy and, led by the dragon God of Time (called Akatosh, Auri-El or even Aka, more details later) rebel against Lorkhan, sunder him, send his corpse in the sky and his heart on Nirn.

We have two opposed attitudes, and they will oppose each over : the '"elfic" Anuic/Akatoshic wants to go out the Mundus et return to the status of Et'Ada, the other, "human" Padomayac / Lorkhanic wants to use the Mundus and subgradiance, in order to go out the Godhead.

However, associate them with stasis and change must be seen long-term. In order to go out the Godhead, as Lorkhan wants, world must be temporary kept in stase ; and Aka, him, will have to change (for example destroy) the world in order to reach an eternal Stasis.

Before having some leaving or fighting, the aedra gathered http://www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-mantia-intercept (it is the Convention) and "built" a Tower, the Adamantin Tower (may be a spaceship). What is a Tower ? http://www.imperial-library.info/content/tower
In The Elder Scrolls, towers have a metaphysic meaning : They are shaped like a I, and can be related of the "I Am". Sayng "I Am" has no sense when you are the dream of the Godhead, and it gain a sense when you escape from him.

Moreover, Towers gather energy. Thanks to this tower, and thanks to the sacrifice of the Divines (Who became the Planets), world and time can stabilize ; other Et'Adas become, bu subgradience, the Ehlnofeys, who will became the mortals (they may be a difference between the Ehlnofeys who supported Aka, and became the Elves, and the Ehlnofeys who helped Lorkhan, the wandering Ehlnofey, who became the humans)
This stabilisation can be seen in two ways : Anuically, it let mortal return to their divine status (not only by destroyng the world), and Padomayacally, a stable world allows it inhabitants to take a walking ways freeing from the Godhead.

This http://magusverus.deviantart.com/gallery/23826813#/d2h1255is a good representation of the TES world as we know it.
Nirn is in the center, the moons are the sundered body of Lorkhan, the other planets are the body of the other Divines. The Sun is the hole in the Aetherius formed by Magnus when fleeing, the stars the smaller holes formed by the other Magne-Ge, and the void between stars are the daedric planes.
The Mundus is often compared with a wheel : the eight planets are the spokes, the space between is/are the daedic planes, and talos is at the hub of the wheel, and keeps all stable.http://www.imperial-library.info/content/cosmology http://www.imperial-library.info/content/vehks-teaching http://www.imperial-library.info/content/thirty-six-lessons-vivec-sermon-twenty-one

The link Elves=Anu, Men=Padomay is ofnten made, but it is wrong. The Chimer targeted the Psijic endeavour, following the doctrine of Veloth (I explain later). Their goal, isn't divinity (or, at least, isn't the finality) but is getting free from the Godhead.
Tensions between Chimers and the other elves (even Dwemer maybe) can be explained thus : their goal is totally opposed, and incompatible, and the fact that men and mers are always fighting is also explained thus.

In order to exit the Godhead, there are 6 Walking Ways.http://www.imperial-library.info/content/walking-ways-0 http://www.imperial-library.info/content/walking-ways-0, theorized by Vivec within 36 Sermons http://www.imperial-library.info/node/1259/ which often go through a divinasation. All of these Ways have apparently been tested before the fifth era. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/loveletter-fifth-era-true-purpose-tamriel. By combining all the data, it is possible to get this (at least, it is what I would say http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1406266-walking-ways/) :

1: ??? --> prolix Tower
2: Breaking free of the wheel altogether --> Psiijic Endeavour
3: Fulfilling a prophecy (I find this dubious, it may be Dracochrysalis) --> The Scarab that transform into the new man
4: Copy something --> Mantling, Enantiomorph, Talos
5: Achieving CHIM --> CHIM, Vivec
6: Combining souls --> Numidium and the Dwemers

Some explanations

Mantlinghttp://www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-hatta-sphinxmoth-inquiry-tree is "walk like them until they must walk like you". By copying a divine being(usually Lorkhan), it is possible to go so close that the two are confounded, and it it impossible to distinguish the two.
An Enaniomorph http://www.imperial-library.info/content/rebels-return(this anolysis is a bit old), is an echo of the trio Lorkhan/Akatosh/Magnus, (Ruling) King/Rebel/Observer omnipresent in theTES. For example, the different aspects of Talos have an "Akaish", a Shezarrine, and an Observer, who together make Talos. usually, the Ruling king and the Rebel are indistinguishable, except for the Observer. We also have Shoggorath, Jyggalag, and the CoC, or Martin, Dagon, and the CoC

Skyrim :

We have the rulling king (Alduin, he no longer wants to eat the world, but really take control of it), which is close to the idea of Rulling. the Rebel was Dovahkiin, close Shor and Lorkhan principle, and the Observer (who, it will surprise you, is sometimes called traitor), Paarthurnax.
In addition, we keep the blur on "the observer can only differentiate"; Dovahkiin is blessed by Akatosh (Aka), and Alduin, wanting to dominate the world, perhaps ensures its durability and freeing from the Godhead (even though there will be no one to go out, and he will eat the world sooner or later).
We can add that Shor was not in Sovngarde when Dovahiin is because Dovahkiin may be Shor, or an avatar. You can even think that the actions of Dovahkiin make him mantle Shor (And mantling and enantiomorph are often close)

Some call Lorkhan Talos 2.0, and Dovahkiin Talos 2.0 because it may also be an enantiomorph of Talos. Here, the roles are more vague, and while there isn't a new High King, we won't know.
The trio Dovahkiin, Tullius, Ulfric may be considered an enantiomorph ... who would integrate Talos, strengthening him whatever the outcome of the civil war is;
Reigning King Tullius, Ulfric Rebel, Observer (and traitor compared to it does not help) Dovahkiin.
If the Dovahkiin becomes High King, reigning King Dovahkiin, Rebel opponent, observer and ally ... Unless this is the reverse reigning King the opponent Rebel Dovahkiin and Observer ally.
But for now, it is only theories.

Another example is Vivec, Dagoth, and Nerevar/Nerevarine : Vivec rebelled against nerevar, and Dagoth observed, The Nerevarine Rebeled agains Dagoth (or ma)ybe it is the contrary, only Vivec, the Observer now, might know http://www.imperial-library.info/content/thirty-six-lessons-vivec-sermon-eleven)
nerevar can be seen as Anuic (lowering the barriers of Mundus) or Padomaiac (Freeing the heart, beating Dagoth Ur who wanted all other people to become him)

As Vivec , Lorkhan may have reached CHIM (read Vehk's teaching!) But he didn't for altruism ; his failure shows how to manage to. This is the second Walking Way : Psiijic Endeavour,
CHIM makes the attainer the godhead, but the Endeavor gives the attainer the “experience” of the Godhead(Vehk’s Teaching.) In other words, it gives them the stature to “irritate the sun with a stick.” (Sermon 23.) The path that sermon 23 discusses is the path to CHIM, which is tempered by those who fail to achieve it. Many of those failure are trying to get there through the Endeavor, and few might reach the state existing alongside but not as the Godhead that the Endeavor can get to.

A group, a whole folk, , make the experience of Godhead, become aware of all, and escape together.

it is what the Tsaescis (and maybe, as Argonia is mentionned, Agonans, as we know that http://www.imperial-library.info/content/kinmune, and so are Padomaiac) look for :

And we have in "http://www.imperial-library.info/content/tsaesci-creation-myth-and-we-ate-it-become-it"

""There was the Striking, and the Egg was split into twelve worlds, one for each serpent who had a name, and the names of the serpents were alive and coiled into themselves and became more eggs, for names are self-maters, and the Naming went and went""

Vivec reached CHIM http://www.imperial-library.info/content/trial-vivec , the fifth Walking Way. Knowing when he reached it is a matter of debate (when he became a god, when he lose his godhood (makin him more self-loving) or even during the Trial), the way less ; CHIM is becomming aware that all is only the Godhead, there is no difference between you and the other ( "I ARE ALL WE" ). This lead to a perfect knowledge of the world, and by a mecanism, to a total disapearence of the personality, the being, erasing him even from the pattern of the possiblity. It is the Zero-Sum ; with I, towers, we can write I + (-I) = 0
There's nothing left.

In order to achieve CHIM, you must not only know that all is the Godhead, but manage to keep your individuality, for example by self-loving.

We can go further, an link Walking Ways to Towers.

Elves did like Et'Adas at the Convention, and used or created towers http://www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-mantia-intercept in order to become goddly again (http://lagbt.wiwiland.net/wikibiblio/index.php/L%27interception_de_Nu-Mantia_-_Lettre_4 : White-Gold, Crystal-like-Law, Orichalc, Green-Sap, Walk-Brass, Snow Throat...). These towers "channel" energy, and this energy keeps the Mundus stable, and may even be used. Towers nned a stone to work.
Why did they build these towers, if it made the Mundus more stable ?
- If it was unstable, they couldn't escape, or a daedra might invade the Mundus
- The energy channeled can be used in order to flee.

Crystal-like-Law, The Crystal Tower, is a Dracochysalid catalyst (transformation into a divine dragon). It is Auri-El who showed this way, and Phynaster, Xarxès, Trinimac and some other took it. (The ancestor worship is the worship of the ancestor who mange to Dracochrysalis, and of the ancestors whose souls is used for the ascension.)

An anolysis (By MinotaurWarrior)

Dracochrysalis, is a mysterious process by which some figures (Xarxes, Phynaster, Syrabane, and maybe Trinimac) became gods. It was taught to them by Auri-El (the Altmer version of Akatosh), and is probably pretty difficult. The name implies that it has something to do with becoming a dragon, and spening time in a cocoon. Its possible that the Ka'Po'Tun of Akavir have discovered a similar process.

I know that neither of them are directly said to have dracochyrsalized, but the implication is pretty clear. Auri-El gathered his people at Ada-Mantia to show them how to ascend to heaven. Later, some of his people (those who give us that story of Auri-El) built a tower in their home island for the purpose of "dracochyrsalis" (a process that is never described). At some point (never described) Xarxes, one of the dudes who watched Auri-El ascend to heaven, becomes a god. To me, the implication is clear that dracochyrsalization is the process of returning to heaven (individually escaping the mundus) like Auri-El did, and that any time someone ascends and becomes their own distinct deity, that's an example of drachocrysalis.

This Tower was destroyed during the oblivion Crisis, explaining the actual method of the Thalmor : They can only destroy the world.

Then, what the dwemer did was not only technology ; there's enchanting (we find soul gems) and mainly the use of the heart of Lorkhan. Because Numidium, Walk-Brass Tower of the dwemer, played its role http://www.imperial-library.info/content/final-report-trebonius ; Kagrenac trapped the souls of the dwemer in , and their union gave birth to a God, Numidium.
Later, Numidium was used by Tiber Septim (who used the Mantella with the soul of Zurin Arctus as a stone) but this Tower was desactivated in the Warp in the West.

We have White Gold. What is its goal ? http://www.imperial-library.info/content/nu-mantia-intercept-letter-8 It imitate the Wheel of the Aurbis ; it is a bit like mantling, and what happens to the Tower happens to the Aurbis. The Ayelid wanted, by destroyng this tower when it was close enough of the Aurbis, Destroy both of them. Maybe the Thalmor may had the same idea but the Tower is with no doubt desactivated, even if there is the dragon staue next to (if not why did the Dominion rushed to the Imperial City ? Because their goal, destroying all with Tower couldn't be fulfilled...)

Most of the Towers seem to desactivate (Green Sap stops walking, Snow Throat "sundered", the heart of Lorkhan released)

And we have the orichalc Tower.

******

I don't know what the left handed Elves wanted to do, but the Orichalc tower was destroyed. But first, we must speak of the HoonDing.

HoonDing (The Make Way God): Yokudan spirit of 'perseverance over infidels'. The HoonDing has historically materialized whenever the Redguards need to 'make way' for their people. In Tamrielic history this has only happened three times -- twice in the first era during the Ra Gada invasion and once during the Tiber War. In this last incarnation, the HoonDing was said to have been either a sword or a crown, or both.

Crown : Ruling King. Sword : Rebel.
The HoonDing is both King and Rebel, the Make (Walking?) Way God.

Leki (Saint of the Spirit Sword): Goddess daughter of Tall Papa, Leki is the goddess of aberrant swordsmanship. The Na-Totambu of Yokuda warred to a standstill during the mythic era to decide who would lead the charge against the Lefthanded Elves. Their swordmasters, though, were so skilled in the Best Known Cuts as to be matched evenly. Leki introduced the Ephemeral Feint. Afterwards, a victor emerged and the war with the Aldmer began.

She can be linked to the Pankratosword, the sword destroying atomos and triggering a nuke explosion.

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/lord-vivecs-sword-meeting-cyrus-restless

Yes, that's why Yokuda (and the orichalc Tower) were destroyed.

Moreover ; there's a link between the ansu (the keeper of the Pankatosword, which may be a sword or a sword or a movement of sword) and orichalc

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/lord-vivecs-sword-meeting-cyrus-restless

And, yes :

Diagna (Orichalc God of the Sideways Blade): Hoary thuggish cult of the Redguards. Originated in Yokuda during the Twenty Seven Snake Folk Slaughter. Diagna was an avatar of the HoonDing (the Yokudan God of Make Way, see below) that achieved permanence. He was instrumental to the defeat of the Lefthanded Elves, as he brought orichalc weapons to the Yokudan people to win the fight. In Tamriel, he led a very tight knit group of followers against the Orcs of Orsinium during the height of their ancient power, but then faded into obscurity. He is now little more than a local power spirit of the Dragontail mountains.

Leki teachs to the Yokudans a move to beat left handed elves, Diagna, a HoonDing, uses Orichalc weapons to beat them, Orichalc tower was built by left handed elves, the ansus are the saint swords of orichalc... a link betwenn orichalc, Pankratosword, and the HoonDing ? Perhaps because orcs also use orichalc weapons ?

******

Khajits should have a Tower (as they are/were Elves), but we don't have any clue. We only know that they are more Pandomaiac than the other elves. What is their way of Thinking ? http://www.imperial-library.info/content/words-clan-mother-ahnissi-her-favored-daughter

""
The children of Fadomai tore out the Heart of Lorkhaj and hid it deep within Nirni. And they said, "We curse you, noisy Lorkhaj, to walk Nirni for many phases."
""

""
And because Y'ffer had no appreciation for secrets, he shouted the First Secret across all the heavens with his last breath so that all of Fadomai's children could cross the Lattice. But Azurah, in her wisdom, closed the ears of angry Ahnurr and noisy Lorkhaj so they alone did not hear the word.
""

It seems that they have a new way of taking the world : it is good as it is. On the other hand, we have the mention of "crossing the Lattice" which may be either fleeing or freeing.

And the Void Nights (disparition of the moons) are a mystery, which affected the Khajiits, as the baby's race is affected by the moons
The only thing we havehttp://www.imperial-library.info/content/forum-archives-michael-kirkbride :

""
What were the Void Nights? (03/02/12)

Eugenics experiment. With a side dish of "don't [censored] with us."

""

I think the Thalmor thought that the Khajit would give birth to purer Elves without moons. Was their successful ?

However, even if the walking ways can be linked to the ascencion to godhood, and to the Towers, they are in fact opposed.

The Walking Ways are described http://www.imperial-library.info/content/loveletter-fifth-era-true-purpose-tamriel as leading to Z http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1396059-mortal-death-to-z/page__p__21232180#entry21232180, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1396059-mortal-death-to-z/page__view__findpost__p__21234443, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1396059-mortal-death-to-z/page__view__findpost__p__21238840 Which can be seen as beeing Amaranth. The goal, by escaping the Godhead, is to leave Amarant. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/forum-archives-michael-kirkbride,

3) To the close dreamers, don't forget the Amaranth. There *is* one step beyond CHIM, but you're right in that it is not godhood. It's the flowering of a statehood where the images you give birth to in your dream-- stolen (?) from first dreamer-- wakes up. Wails knowing free will. And begins to dream in the same way. Children of liberty without end, and then the music lives forever as a pirate radio tuned against the rules of Heaven and the vulgarities of Hell.

This is a state where you Become a Godhead, but you stay awake. This state can lead other people in the Godhead to awaking
Leaving in the Godhead is sleeping, taking a walking way is awaking, reaching Z is to sleep (perchance to dream, ay, there's the rub) awake.
Towers make able to clim in the Subgradience, while the final goal of the Walking ways is to go down.

The Numidium case is really interessant. Perhaps something was missing in the ritual of Kagrenac ; Arniel Gane, in Skyrim, tries a part of the Ritual, and becomes linked in the closest divinity : Dovahkiin (avatar of Shor) ; Kagrenac links the whole Dwemer race to Numidium ; we can think he wanted to link all elves maybe all living people, who would habe become divine again, and "free"
(the ritual may have failed because they did it too fast, because all dwemer wasn't there (Yagrum was in the outer realms) ot because Yagrum had something more to do to activate Numidium (and forgot it) or only because it had to fail.)

Or maybe it would have led to something able to go out of the Godhead, http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1402722-dwemer-speculation/page__st__90__p__21387707#entry21387707 and/or Numidium would have had to combinate all souls, and sunder them in parts smaller than before.

So, the Et'Adas. It seems that there are many faces of the Dragon God of Time (Dawnguard, mention of both Auri-el and Akatosh in "Shezzar's Song" http://www.imperial-library.info/content/skyrim-monomyth And of the Snake God of Space (Lorkhan is the moons, Shor is in Sovngarde, and Shezzar may be close of Akatoshhttp://www.imperial-library.info/ForumArchives/AmuletAmulet.html)

- Either there is only one God of Time and one of Space, and we only see different aspects of these Gods. But it is hard to believe it, because Auri-El who ascended by Drachocrysalis and Akatosh, the planet we see in the sky, would be a single...

- Or they have always been different (But in this case, who did what during the Dawn Era ?)

- Or there were one Dragon Gode of Time ("Aka") And one god of Space ("Lorkhan"), "Aka" would have been divided between Akatosh, Auriel, Alduin, Alkosh, Borhamu... (see later)

- Regularly , Alduin eats the world, and it restarts to Merethic Era http://www.imperial-library.info/content/world-eating-101 http://www.imperial-library.info/content/seven-fights-aldudagga . Paradoxically, we are not exactly sure of how this "World Eating 101" works Maybe Alduin eats only the Mundus, which begins almost exactly the same, maybe he devours everything, including Daedra and Aetherius, and all begins in a manner similar (either because Alduin explodes or it happens into him)
Using this, we may think that http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1249697-on-boethiahs-summoning-day/ the places of the god change with the kalpas : (Peryite might take the place of Akatosh later, that's why he would a dragon linked to order) With mortals who became Goddly, and join the pantheon; Shor, Shezzar may even only be mortals who mantled Lorkhan previously.

These theories can be mixed...

A last point is about dragon Break http://www.imperial-library.info/content/dragon-break-study(this link is a bit old) ; it is obvious that time isn't linear in TES http://www.imperial-library.info/content/loveletter-fifth-era-true-purpose-tamriel, http://www.imperial-library.info/content/kinmune, but sometimes a Dragon (Time) Break happens where time behaves as during the dawn era ; Anyhowhttp://www.imperial-library.info/content/obscure-where-were-you-when-dragon-broke, http://www.imperial-library.info/content/dragon-break,http://www.imperial-library.info/content/vehks-book-hours-concerning-dragon-break
the first, the greatest, happened when the Maruhkatis Selected tried to separate Akatosh from Auriel

""
A fanatical sect of the Alessian Order, the Maruhkati Selective, becomes frustrated by ancient Aldmeri traditions still present within the theological system of the Eight Divines. Specifically, they hated any admission that Akatosh, the Supreme Spirit, was indisputably also Auriel, the Elven High God.
Newly invented rituals were utilized to disprove this theory, to no avail. Finally, the secret masters of the Maruhkati Selective channeled the Aurbis itself to mythically remove those aspects of the Dragon God they disapproved of. A staff or tower appeared before them. The secret masters danced on it until it writhed and trembled and spoke its protonymic.
The tower split into eight pieces and Time broke. The non-linearity of the Dawn Era had returned.
""

Other Dragon Break happened ; during Talos ascenssion, or the Warp in the West (when all the powers of the Illiac Bay were given Numidium simultaneously.

Another one was the red moment [http://www.imperial-library.info/content/foul-murder] http://www.imperial-library.info/content/dragon-break-red-mountain
After Kagrenac used the heart of Lorkhan, Nerevar took the tools and entrusted them to Voryn Dagoth (who will become Dagoth Ur). Dagothseems to have used them, And Nerevar/ Vehk, Ayem and Seht, "killed" him. When Nerevar started the invocation of Azura in order to know what he should do (destroyng the tools), he was murdered by Almalexia, Sil and Vivec. they used the heart in order to gain goddly powers, and changed the past in order to have always been Gods... and they break the Dragon.

Two things on this image ; Sil (Seht) hold Wraithguard (Is it in order to guard from Lorkhan, a dead god who became a wraith ?) and Keening within, (look at the Morrowind Artworks. http://www.imperial-library.info/content/page-35.) Vivec's spear Muatra, is a symbol of the tower... but also a phallic symbol, often seen in the texts.

Vivec confirms the murder by a secret message hidden in the sermons :

He was not born a god. His destiny did not lead him to this crime. He chose this path of his own free will. He stole the godhood and murdered the Hortator. Vivec wrote this.

But he can say in the Sermon zero http://www.imperial-library.info/content/anolysis-sermon-zero

Vivec committed no crime.

And in his Trial http://www.imperial-library.info/content/trial-vivec

""Vehk the mortal did murder the Hortator. Vehk the God did not""

The mortal Vehk who killed Nerevar isn't the God Vivec we see

In the Loveletter, http://lagbt.wiwiland.net/wikibiblio/index.php/Loveletter_From_the_Fifth_Era,_The_True_Purpose_of_Tamriel , Sul mentions the Landfall. Even if we don't know what it is, we have that : it is'nt the fall of Baar Dau http://www.imperial-library.info/content/forum-archives-michael-kirkbride.

The Landfall != the associated events of The Infernal City.
Totally different thing. When Landfall happens, you guys will do a spit-take like Bail Organa did when the Death Star showed up above Alderaan.

Just skimmed it, meta-lore for dummies seems to be a better name.

Just skimmed it, meta-lore for dummies seems to be a better name.
Ya, just noticed most of this is monkey truth and semi-lore from devs.

Thanks though for the effort!

I read all of these. But I share it because almost nothing about Skyrim has been added, and nothing about "meta-lore" speculations .

Well, okay I guess. The stuff in Skyrim is scattered around the forum so it may be tough to find it (Unless someone bookmarked MKs Five hundred Companions).

Quite pleasing as a starter guide. I shall show some of my "casual" TES chums and ask what they think of it. As a translation, your english is on the whole very good, although there are a few mistakes here and there, but nothing that obscures the text. One thing I would ask is that you insist more on some points that are "theory" or "alternate truths" (World-Eating 101, for instance, starts with the assumption that the Dawn Era is the end of the last Kalpa, but doesn't necessarily say that this is true or fits with existing lore). I'm not trying to say we shouldn't believe all this, but by stating "all these are true" we can sometimes stop people from writing things if they happen to contradict existing lore or monkeytruth. Closing remarks: thanks for your magnificent effort, I recently tried to explain some "meta-lore" to my friends who were familiar with Oblivion and Skyrim today, and found it pretty hard, so I know that writing an extensive explanation is certainly something to be congratulated for.
