Each Game's strengths. What are they?

Post » Wed Oct 24, 2012 4:19 pm

I mean all of them. Mobile games, Adventure and Legends included. No mentions of their weaknesses at all. Just state plainly what you think each game's strengths are. No need to correct someone else's opinion. That should be self evident. If you are planning on bringing negativity into this thread, leave it instead. Simple. Thank you. Discussion is welcome but try to keep it civil. If it gets out of hand I will have this thread closed or request your posts are removed.

Wall of texts are very welcome. Preferred method is bullet points of course. Easier to read and interpret. If you have another method feel free.

I will refrain from posting my own thoughts. If you haven't played a game, that is fine. Just post up the ones you have played.

The list of games is as follows.

The Main Series
-The Elder Scrolls: Arena
-The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfell
-The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
-The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
-The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls Adventures.
-Redguard

An Elder Scrolls Legend.
-Battlespire

The Elder Scrolls Travels.
-Shadowkey
-Dawnstar
-Stormhold
-Oblivion

Keep it positive! Just the pros. No cons. What has Bethesda done right by you?

Daggerfall:

Character creation, dungeons, being told to excuse the gloom...

Morrowind:

World immersion, atmosphere, setting, lore

Oblivion:

Soundtrack, charm, factions, lush forests, modding community

Skyrim:

Hand-craftedness of the gameworld

Interesting cultural variety
Intriguing ambiguities in main quest storyline

No invisible borders
Wonderful water, sky and moons graphics
One-click, resizable menus
Jeremy Soule's music

Oblivion:
Radiant AI
Havok physics
Several interesting, imaginative side quests
Ayleid architecture
Horses
Player housing
Jeremy Soule's music

Skyrim:
Realistic quasi-Nordic atmosphere
Stunningly creative art design
Incredibly detailed, hand-made dungeons with stories
NPCs with dialogue that is specific to them
Crafting (Smithing, Cooking, Smelting, Tanning, Ore mining)
Fun activies (chopping wood, gathering wheat, milling lumber, marriage, brawls)
Children (and playing games with children)
Enchanting, Smithing, Alchemy activated in-game by character, not via menu by player
Civil war which allows us to choose sides (and, for the first time in the series, take sides against the Empire).
Interesting moral ambiguities in civil war storyline
Main quest NPCs who are not always two-dimensionally admirable
Dual wielding
Selectable perks
Jeremy Soule's music
