Alrighty, so I've been bored lately and have been meaning to try and write this for some time. With being sick for two days I found that it was the best time to start. I haven't seen too many Fallout 3 based fan-fics, mostly New Vegas ones, so here is my first attempt at making a fan-fic about the Pitt and Capital Wasteland.
I'm also sort of nervous as to people thinking it's bad, but I know that not many people will outright say it though, but all criticism is welcome. :D I tried not to make anything too long, but I feel that it may have stopped me from putting some more detail in, but oh well.
General Info (I will add some stuff here Later I think)
The year is 2288 and the Pitt has grown in size a considerable amount. At the time of the Pitt DLC I would say that Ashur's "army" consisted of no more than 50 people. The rest of the Pitt would have had a small population too.
Durinf 2288 though Pittsburgh has grown to the outskirts of the pre-war city and has reached a population of roughly 1,500. Another Steel Mill was found to be working and there are about 750 slaves in the Pitt. 250 people actually have some type of job or do nothing whatsoever. The remaining 500 is the "army" which is broken into a few parts. There are the Captains the Commanders, and the General. The Captains are in charge of 19 additional men who are all of equal rank. Commanders are in charge of 5 captains and 95 soldiers. The General is in charge of all of these men and the only one who ranks higher than him is Ashur.
Background
After the brotherhood managed to cleanse the wastes of the Enclave they were able to focus all their attention on the Super Mutant threat. Within weeks the knights and paladins had defeated many of the mutants and cleared out Vault 87 ceasing all Super Mutant activity. With the main threat out of the way the Brotherhood could focus on helping the people of the wastes.
Elder Lyons planned on continuing the Aqua-Pura operations along with teaching people practical skills in medicine, farming, and engineering among many other things. After the wastelanders were dealt with he wanted to make a report of all findings in the DC area, fix relations with the Outcasts, and head out back west. But his goals were short lived. After seeing the technological gains of the Brotherhood, the Outcasts plotted on taking what they believed was rightfully theirs. They successfully infiltrated the Citadel and began an operation of smuggling gear out. It worked for a while until Elder Lyons became suspicious of the activity. When he tried to approach them the outcasts killed Lyons in fear of being captured by the Brotherhood. Upon hearing the news Sarah Lyons took position of Elder immediately and declared war on the Outcasts to avenge her father. The fighting was short and only lasted several days. The Brotherhood had superior numbers, tech, and strategy. No mercy was given to any Outcast member and all remnants were killed on site.
With Sarah in charge the Brotherhood took a different approach to achieving their goals. They still aided the communities teaching them valuable skills and offering protection. And when things turned uncivil the Brotherhood was always there to put things down. Over time the towns began to naturally see them as their leaders and protectors as everything they now had was due to the Brotherhood. Sarah took advantage of this and started to request more and more assistance from the towns to join the ranks of the Brotherhood. Eventually the the requests from both sides were too much to handle so Sarah "officially" declared that the entire Capital Wasteland was under Brotherhood control giving her free reign to do as she pleased to the people of the Capital Wasteland. With the increase of demands and area to control the Brotherhood's simple way of organizing things became too ineffective. Sarah felt it was necessary to make herself a the undoubted leader of the Brotherhood with no opposition to power. Although she had supreme control, she set up a council of Scribes to discuss and solve many problems in the territory. At this point all ties to the Brotherhood of Steel were lost except the name and use of power armor. With Sarah's desire to expand the functioning wasteland she felt it was necessary to have an official name for her city-state. Capital Union (Name pending...) was chosen as it appearance alone made the wastes seem more safe and inviting.
For 5 years the Capital Union has been thriving. Little expansion has been accomplished as Sarah is experimenting with the ways of conquering. Most of the towns in Capital Wasteland remain, some with name changes to sound less childish. Each of them are significantly larger than during the Enclave incident and each thrives and many towns specialize in something.
The Brotherhood isn't the only group making progress. Ashur's Pitt has grown substantially since the Lone Wanderer aided Ashur in gaining total control. His small army has somewhat grown and taken control of the entirety of pre-war Pittsburgh. More slaves are acquired each day and steel is beginning to be produced in effective quantities. With all of this success Ashur has also found a breakthrough in the search to find a cure for the TDC. Once the cure is found things around the Pitt will begin to change such as gradual freeing of slaves and more freedom overall for people. But some people aren't ready for this change and want things to stay the way they are, and they are willing to do anything to stop the cure from being found.
Prologue
The sun had set over the city, but without a trained eye it was hard to tell when dusk and dawn started as the clouds over the skyscraqers were always tinged with red and orange from the constant work in the factories. In the depths of the Steel Yard a meeting was taking place within the old supply plant. Twenty individuals attended this gathering for one reason, to stop Ashur from changing the Pitt. It was no secret that he was close to finding a cure to the Troglodyte Degeneration Contagion, and with this would come change to the lives of everyone. But some people didn't want to watch their power slip through their fingers.
After several minutes of waiting the group of raiders became restless and demanding to know what was going to happen. After the shouting and bickering calmed itself the group watched as a man casually walked towards them. He was bald and had a goatee that was grayed from the ashes of his constant smoking. It wasn't hard to tell that he had a great deal of power in the Pitt as he looked tougher, smarter, and generally better than any other raider. His name was Rash and he was Ashur's second in command.
"Settle down everyone, this will be short and to the point," Rash calmly said, "We are all here because of Ashur plans on betraying his own people with this cure. He says he is going to make everyone's life better, but all he is really gonna do is push us done to the same level as the slaves."
The raiders got rowdy shouting things about how the slavers are nothing but trash. After they calmed down a bit Rash continued.
"There is only one way to stop this from happenin'. We gotta steal his baby girl Marie." Rash said then paused for a moment so everyone could clearly understand, "So this is what we doing. In the morning Ashur always takes a walk around Uptown leaving his daughter and wife inside his Haven. I can get in there and get his daughter and I'll deal with his wife. Some of you's will be placed as guards inside Haven and we will take her our of the city and deal with her."
The Raiders all cheered with joy all thinking they would be guaranteed their power over the slaves. Not a single one objected the simple plan and they all believed it would work perfectly.
-------------------
The crack of dawn was the sign for the start of a new day. Everyone would begin working at this time, and those from the night shift would hide themselves until dusk came. Along with everyone else Rash began his duties assisting Ashur with work around the Pitt. He made his way to Haven and let himself in spotting all guards who didn't show up to the meeting last night. They could be trouble later so he plotted a path in his head that would avoid them. As he walked towards Ashur's room he nodded at each raider that was at the meeting so that they knew this was happening. When he got to the office he saw Ashur talking to his wife trying to leave the conversation and go out for his walk.
"Good morning Rash, once I'm back from the morning sweep we can begin business for today." Ashur said while looking at Rash.
"Aye, and today could be the day." Rash replied with a fake grin on his face.
"Certainly, Marie is eager to find this cure along with the rest of us." Ashur said.
Ashur then said goodbye to his wife and headed for Upton. Rash watched as he left the building and waited several minutes to be sure Ashur was gone. He then got up and head to Marie's room. He only had a limited amount of time to act, so he rushed into the room and knocked her out with one swing of a hammer. He tied her hands and feet and covered her mouth, then he threw her over his shoulder and headed for the door. Before he could escape though Sandra, Ashur's wife, confronted Rash.
"What are you doing with my daughter!" She demanded.
"Uh...Well I.... Screw this!" Rash shouted.
He pulled out his .44 Magnum and shot Sandra in the face. She fell to the floor twitching until she was lifeless. Rash waved his hand for one of them to come over to help him out. Once of the guards approached Rash, he shot him in the side of the head. As the second body fell to the ground Rash threw his gun on top of the dead guard. He looked at the four other guys and nodded again and they made their way for the stairs. Time was not on their side and they had to act quick. They stuffed Marie into a large duffle bag and headed down the stairs to find several other guards waiting to see what happened. Before any of them could ask questions Rash spoke out.
"Some crazy got into Ashur's room and shot up his wife, then put a bullet in his own head," Rash said, "We's gonna go tell Ashur, so just make sure no one goes up there."
Rash and the four other men headed out the door in a hurried pace. As they jogged down the streets of Uptown they saw Ashur coming back from his morning sweep. They weren't going to be able to dodge him, so they walked by him expecting questioning to ensue.
"What's going on Rash? Why do you have the bag?" Asked Ashur.
"Well...I forgot to tells ya that Sid needed some new guns for the guards in the Steel Mill and I'm bringin' them to him." Replied Rash nervously.
"Alright, hurry back though, we have a busy day ahead of us." Ashur said confused about the nervous expression.
"Oh by the way, it looked like one of dem new guys went into Haven all crazed up on some drug so be careful." Rash stated while walking towards the exit again.
They sped their pace up looking for the other raiders who attended the meeting last night. When they saw them they told them to head The Homestead once nighttime came. Withing minutes Rash and his small group made their way out of the Pitt without anyone noticing and they were headed towards the small town of Homestead.
