Are the savegame files in the game directory?

If you're on Windows 7 or Vista I'm pretty sure I know what happened although I'm not sure why they would suddenly disappear.

Right that's because they're not saved there on Vista or 7. They're in a hidden virtual overlay because Windows didn't want programs writing information there.

You have to enable hidden files and folders and go to User-What ever your username is-AppData (this is hidden so it's why you have to make Windows let you see it)-Local-VirtualStore-Wherever your Fallout 2 install is-DATA-SAVEGAME and you should be able to see them. If they're there it should be easily fixable. Just copy them from the virtual location to the real directory and the game should see them again. If they're not I don't know what to tell you.

Unless you got the game via Steam. Steam might put them somewhere else.

Start the game, make a save file, look for the save file's name, search entire disc for something named the same, copy paste it back into the actual save file folder, done?

(No idea if this will work)
