Its been many years since I've played Morrowind and I'm now getting back into it. There seems to be a staggering amount of Unofficial patches (Unofficial patch, Code patch, etc, etc). Which ones should I really get? If more than one, in what order do they go? Thanks!
There are three: The Unofficial Morrowind Patch (UMP), the Morrowind Patch Project (MPP) and the Morrowind Code Patch (MCP). The first is a master file that attempts to fix things that Bethesda never did (dialog entries, floating statics, etc.). The MPP is the continuation of that while the MCP is something totally different: it fixes the game executable and does not (or should not) touch anything that MPP does. So, it's recommended that you get and use both the MCP and MPP, but make sure you read the readme for MPP & UMP to decide which one you'd like better. As for install order, it doesn't matter because UMP & MPP are master files and the MCP is an executable - they patch Morrowind in completely different ways. The UMP and MPP should not be used together, though.
You will love the MCP btw. It's like mana from the gaming gods or something. Rain no longer has to fall through buildings, saves are way more reliable and there are a number of other fixes.. like reflect actually works now. It addresses many things once thought impossible, and is all optional to boot. And may I say, welcome back. :foodndrink:
