Official Dragonborn DLC Lore Discussion

What I'm interested in is those pig-riding midgets.
I'm assuming they're Rieklings. They were riding boars back in Morrowind after all.

Alessia dethroned at last.

Like someone mentioned I hope Beth take the time to explain the difference between Dragonborn, as in born with the soul of a dragon and Dragonblood, given the blessing of Akatosh to rule.

Apocrypha, Solstheim and dragon riding. Not to mention, the mystery of finding who the first Dovahkiin really was. This is shaping up to be gooood. Wonder if the new Houses mentioned by that thread a while ago will make an appearance. I mean, it's way too much of a coincidence that a yet-to-be announced DLC related thread shows up a few weeks ago. Not to start a flame war, but this should really make its way onto the PS3 now, I mean, there ARE fans on Sony's console.

And to be honest, anyone else more excited about this DLC's plot than the MQ's?

I believe this Dragonborn is named Miraak.
Ah, bummer. Suppose it could be a name change, like Durnehviir, so I won't abandon hope.

The more I think about this idea, the more I like it. I love the symbolism in Bromjunaar Sanctuary of the dragon eating the dragonborn (Konahrik was locked away inside the stone dragon's mouth).

Isn't this weird that this particular dragon priest did not serve dragons? By the standards of the cult being a dragonborn would be blasphemous.

I don't have any lore-based comments to add. But dang! I am looking forward to this coming out. We get a daedric realm AND a portion of Morrowind? My excite is barely contained.

I wonder if this "First Dragonborn" was Konahrik then. His name does mean Warlord, and it would explain why his mask (and presumably a portion of his power) was sealed away by the other priests.

Well, the trailer comments that the First Dragonborn ruled over Solstheim, not Skyrim. And I sort of assumed from the way things are presented at the Bronjunaar Sanctuary that Konahrik would have ruled over Skyrim.

So I suspect it's a new character.

I'm not sure being a Dragonborn would be "blasphemy" to the Cult... unless you mean the sort of Dragonborn who goes around killing dragons, i.e. our character in Skyrim.

Maybe a Dragonborn would have been revered by the Cult, for all we know. Maybe this character rose through the ranks of the Cult until he reached the point where he could usurp authority from the dragons with impunity, and promptly did so. And hasn't it been said that the Dragon Priests in Skyrim acted semi-independently from the dragons anyway (that is, they were the ones who established a tyrannical government, not necessarily the dragons themselves)?

I'll bet you anything that the Dunmer port-town in the start is Raven Rock modified post-Red War.

This also may be one reason why historically, Skyrim hasn't cared that much about Solstheim and that's why it is never under the control of her or Morrowind, always independent from any one province's reign. If, during the age of the dragon priests, one of them located in Solstheim started eating all the dragons, the other priests on the mainland either left him alone in disgust or failed to put him down and the province never bothered taking it since.

Really? I always got the vibe that that mask had been locked away as a punishment for its priest, or out of fear of him. It was hidden outside of time, locked away and only accessible if all 8 priests convened there once again. It feels like the familiar trope where they were unable to destroy it, so they tried to hide it as far away from them as possible, in the hopes that it would never trouble them again.

Not to mention, the helmet on the dragonborn they show at the end of the trailer looks almost identical to it.

Looks like they retooled the Goblins from the Skyrim Game Jam to be Rieklings, who are wielding spears. Wonder if we will be able to. Also noticed Stahlrim armor and what looks like Bonemold. Saw some Netch, too. Being pushed up Telvanni towers, weird monsters, new armor, new Nord stuff, dragon riding. We we we so excite.

1:06?

I had the impression that Konahriik was chosen in a matter similar to RL popes in Catholic Church. All of the high priest needed to gather at one spot (being one of the biggest and oldest cities in Skyrim at the time) and put their holy masks on the pedestal so the 9th one can be bestowed on a worthy war leader? Something like that.

Well. For starters you need to kill a dragon before you could know that you have this gift. We are talking about an age were only Dragons and dragonborns could use the voice. The tounges and greybeards were not around to teach it in less violent way. And I highly doubt that any dragon would teach any mortal the voice under Alduin's reign.

Would be boss if the old cogder at 00.25 actually is Korst Wind-Eye - some sort of longevity isn't unheard of, especially not on Solstheim, eh?

Things get shifty when you run into draugr and dragon priests that FUSRODAH you to the two moons.

I wonder if this dragon priest was also the first Ysmir.

And what if by any means Atmora is/becomes actually Solstheim?
