Everywhere I go it seems that the main reason TES veterans dislike Oblivion was because it supposedly [censored] the TES lore, really badly. I've played Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, but I'm not a lore junkie by any means, and I simply can't find anything wring with Oblivion story-, or lore wise. I'd really appreciate it if someone could explain this to me, I simply want to educate myself.

The biggest problem most people (at least me) have with Oblivion is that it disregarded the exotic and interesting description given of Cyrodiil (http://www.imperial-library.info/content/pocket-guide-empire-first-edition-cyrodiil) in favour of a boring and generic european fantasy.

It irritated me because a lot of the previously established lore seemed to be ignored in favor of watered down things that would cater to a broader audience. Much of it completely disregarded previous lore and it really didn't seem to make much sense. Especially the whole "Oblivion is hell" thing they had going on.

Mehrunes Dagon's realm is like hell. That's not as bad as what they've done to Cyrodiil.
No jungles, no proper split between Colovians and Nibenese, not even proper Roman stuff...
