Dark Tides

"Dark Tides brought us here, hopefully they'll bring us back...."

A special thanks to Tundrafrog and Blackhand who aided me in getting this RP together.

This RP will take place one year after the events of The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. In Skyrim the Stormcloak rebellion was put down by the Empire with minimum casualties. The Empire, however, did suffer one major casualty, Titus Mede II. With their Emperor gone the Empire has retreated back from all other affairs to lick their wounds and work out their political dilemma.

---

A ship departing from Falinesti, Valenwood, carrying 70 very different people is due to dock in Stros M'kai before continuing on too Dagerfall. The ship however, does not make it. Though tails of a massive storm are running rampant through Falinesti the captain of "The Tide Blade" refuses to stay. Against all common sense the captain continues on his voyage with all of his passengers.

This captain, a Bosmer called Fernatil, is not by any means normal. Many rumors surround the crazed Bosmer and his ship, but he still offers some of the lowest charge of any sailors on the West Coast.

The ship, however, never reaches Daggerfall, in fact, it does not even make it to Stros M'kai. Instead nature decides to show it's strength in one, great wave, destroying the ship. All is not lost though. Of the 70 passengers on-board 35 managed to make it to the shore of a nearby, uninhabited island.

At first glance the island appears to be ordinary. Before long, however, the new residents notice something isn't quite right. Darkness seems to hang thick in the air and odd creatures prowl the jungle. On this island the group must try to work together to survive the dark dangers of this hell hole and, hopefully, make it off in one piece.

---

This RP will follow this shipwrecked group as they struggle to survive, and eventually, thrive. This will be a community-based RP with strong survival and horror elements. While there will be combat in this RP it will not rotate around it, so I strongly suggest characters with some non-combat skills.

To enable mid-RP joins there will be a few NPCs available that an RPer can claim, saying that they've been there the whole time. Your character must have a reason for being on the boat, I encourage you to try to make it interesting. Though it's not required, I'd like it if you try to have your character have a "skeleton in the closet", "dark secret", or "Completely screwed up past" that could come into play in the RP.

I cannot stress this enough- Try to make your character as normal as possible. This RP is not Hack-and-Slash oriented, just to make everyone more comfortable I have given my character literally no combat ability at all. For a more character-oriented feel I will try to do a small story line revolving around each individual character. To make this I will shoot you a PM and the two of us will get an idea together for your quest.

Just as a warning, Your character may be killed or injured in the course of the RP. I will not do this without a warning, of course, that simply wouldn't be fair. To keep everything orderly we'll have a few rules.

1. We'll take a vote on most important matters, majority rules. Remember, however, that overall I have the final word in things.

2. Tundrafrog and Blackhand both helped me immensely in this and will serve as Co-GMs. If I'm away they will enforce rule one.

3. No character-controlling without special permission from the person being controlled.

4. Romance is good but don't go overboard. Overall follow the forum rules.

5. No killing other RPers characters without permission from the person being killed.

6. Try to make your posts a reasonable length. Overly short posts or short story posts usually aren't to enjoyable to read.

7. Have fun!

I'm open to anything that will improve the RP so if you have an idea that you think might positively benefit it don't hesitate to offer it up.

Yessir.

Name: Tybalt

Gender: Male

Race: Redguard

Age: 42

Appearance: Tybalt stands around 5'9 and has a very slight build. Though the man is only 42 he can pass as a man much older than that, at least in his late fifties. The man's skin color is a very dark brown, nearly black. The slightest hint of age wrinkles are present on the Redguard's face, especially at the outer corners of his eyes. Due to lack of activity Tybalt has nearly no muscle on his body, and his bones seem to poke out painfully at some parts of his body. Tybalt's head is covered by short, black hair and his jaw is covered by a similarly colored goatee. Much to Tybalt's disliking his hair has a few grey hairs sprinkled here and there, especially at his temples. The first things that are apparent about the middle-aged man's face are his eyes. These eyes of his are grey, both iris and pupil. The reason for this is his blindness from birth, a fact he has recently come to peace with. Because of his blindness Tybalt walks a bit oddly, with his hands sometimes reached out a bit or trailing along objects beside him. His pride and stubbornness, however, keep him from using a cane or watch dog. To substitute for this Tybalt usually uses Alteration and Illusion to help find his way, though he still bumps into things a bit. The rest of Tybalt's face is slim and sharp, all planes and angles. His cheek bones are high and hollow and his eyebrows thin and "aristocratic". The man's face always holds a slight, kind smile and his voice is always light and unburdened.

Birth sign: The Serpent

Personality: Tybalt used to be a spiteful, wicked man because of his disability. He blamed his blindness on others and spent his free-time looking for a cure and feeling sorry for himself. Two years ago, however, the man came to a sudden realization, he would never get better. So instead he made a promise with himself, to live what life he had left to the fullest. After that the man's personality changed. The once heavy burden of self-pity and false hope had been lifted off his shoulders and the man that lay underneath felt much better. His mood was better and his hate gone. The man now accepted all people as they were and overall, was much more tolerable to be around.

Profession: Ex-Farm owner, currently an adventurer.

Skills: Tybalt is very skilled in the school of Illusion and moderately skilled in Alteration.

Attire/armor: Light grey waistcoat over a long-sleeved, white, collared shirt, light grey pants, and a pair of black boots.

Weapons: Steel rapier with a gold-accented sheath, though he doesn't know how to use it (dress rapier).

Miscellaneous items: Steel flask holding fine scotch, bone whistle.

Biography: Tybalt was born in Skingrad too his Redguard parents, Argna and Henry. The couple were both rich landowners and owned many different vineyards and farms in the Skingrad area. The two, both very well off, decided to bring a child into the world. This child, Tybalt, was born under a very special constellation though, the Serpent. It is said that those born under the Serpent are both the luckiest and Un-luckiest, and sadly Tybalt was not too lucky. The child was born completely blind and much to the parent's distress, nothing could be done about it. So the parents raised their child as best as they could. Even though they knew it was a lost cause they hired the best doctors, mystics, and mages from across Tamriel to try to heal their son's blindness. This is the world Tybalt, an only child, grew up in. Because of the constant presence of his doctors and mages Tybalt soon took a liking to Illusion and Alteration magic. The boy soon entered courses with private tutors on both normal academic and magic courses.

After a few years, when Tybalt was 17, his mother passed away from the flu. Tybalt, who had always had a close attachment to his mother, was devastated. The blind teen completely devoted his time to his studies and trying to discover a cure for himself. Six years later, when Tybalt was 23, his father died and his blind son received both of his parent's land, miles upon miles of vineyards and farms, along with several wineries and store houses, and the Sun thorn manor set in the Skingrad countryside. Tybalt, now an advlt, sat back and managed the farms, spending his earnings on more sessions with his physicians. Tybalt continued like this for 17 years until the man came to a frustrated realization, he was not going to get better.

So Tybalt decided to see the world (no pun intended). He left the affairs of his fields, vineyards, wineries, store houses, and manor to his good friend Franco Servius and went off to travel Tamriel. The Redguard, now 40, travelled all over. He visited the clear-aired mountains of Skyrim, the dry deserts of Elsweyr, the culture-rich, alien swamps of Black Marsh, and everywhere in between. On his latest journey, this one being to Valenwood, Tybalt met a Argonian freedom fighter who promised to help escort him to Stros M'kai, and then too Daggerfall. The two became fast friends. To be continued in RP...

Tundrafrog has linked his CS with mine, he's the Argonian.

Absolutely! The more ordinary the character the more realistic and better posts.

What an unfortunate coincidence(for me at least). Lord Veneficus and I have been planning an island survival RP for the past two or so months. We'll probably have to postpone or scratch the idea completely. Well anyways, no offense to you guys. I hope your RP takes off. Who knows, I might end up joining.

Don't worry about it man. We'll probably just archive it and redo it in a year or two or something. I have a pretty busy schedule at the moment, what will the pace of this RP be?

Alright, I hope I didn't mess you guys up to much.

The pace (I'm assuming, it all depends on the crowd this gets) will be about mid-speed. For myself I'm thinking three or four posts a day for the first week or two then a post or two every day or so then on out.

You probably won't be left behind if you go slower though since it's not an adventure RP.

Cool. Remember, your character dosnt really gave to be good at anything. Normal is good.

For goodness sakes, if you really wanted to you could RP someone resembling you IRL.

Here's my CS:
Spoiler

Name: Adriana Celata

Gender: Female

Race: Imperial

Age: 25

Appearance: Adraria has sleek, shiny brown her, the reaches just below her shoulders. Her eyes are a pale blue, and her teeth are pearly white. Her facial features are all very prominent, and toned. She stands at 5"12' and is slightly overweight. She has no muscles whatsoever.

Birth sign: The Lover

Personality: Adriana is very vain and self-centered. She is constantly brushing her hair, or fixing her clothing. She regards most people as less than equal to her, and can often be quite rude. However she can turn on the charms with a click of her fingers, in order to get what she needs. She rarely displays emotion, and likes others to think of her as cold.

Profession: Noblewomen

Skills: The only skills Adriana posses are her ways with words (Speechcraft) and the ability to keep her hair looking good.

Attire/armor: She is never seen out of her rich and vibrant robes, which stretch down to her feet. She also adorns the most expensive jewelry.

Weapons: None.

Miscellaneous items: She carries her hairbrush and mirror with her at all times, and has a small box that contains her jewelry.

Biography: Adriana was born in the Imperial City, the daughter of two Nobles. On her birth everyone remarked what a pretty baby she was. This praise of her looks continued for the rest of her life, everyone around her constantly telling her she was the most beatiful thing in the world. She ate up every word of it, and spent hours combing her hair and putting on the most expensive jewelry. She would spend hundreds of septims to have her clothes tailor made to suit her.

This spending caught up with her however, and one day, while she was admiring herself yet again her father entered her room. He spoke in a low, dangerous manner, one which meant trouble. "Adriana, you are spending every spetim we get on yourself. It is unacceptable" he growled. She tried to protest but her father raised his hand for silence. "From now on you will make your own money, and stop relying on others to pay for your expenses." She stared in disbelief, her eyes as wide as saucers. Her father left the room, and she fell to thinking.

She soon realized her only asset was her looks, and she used this to her advantage. She would allow men to try and woo her, and turned away those who possessed no wealth. Those who did have gold and silver she allowed to court her, for a time. She would let them lavish her in gifts, and when she had enough gold, she would leave them wondering what they did wrong.

After a while this no longer worked, and she was forced to leave Cyrodiil. A few years later she found herself on a boat bound for new lands, and with any luck new fools to rob.

I hope that is alright and please tell me if there is anything that needs fixing.

That's actually a pretty neat character. Should be interesting on an island where wealth means nothing.

Accepted.
