Will there be split screen ?

I think that a game that revolves around multiplayer should have split-screen/LAN support. Playing with friends over the internet is just not the same as playing with friends in the same room.

i play online games with my brother all the time, you don't need splitscreen or LAN for that...

But again, it's not the same as playing in the same room as other people. I still look upon game nights of Goldeneye with fondness...

I don't know why games don't have split-screen anymore. In my opinion, it's a huge folly in the gaming industry and they lose a surprisingly large number of people from it. I think games are more enjoyable when you can play with a friend right next to you instead of a someone you've never encountered before. Its a poor contrivance for them to exclude split-screen. I know it may be easier just to streamline your game to shelf it earlier, but people can wait. When the game finally comes out, there's no going back. That'll be the time when you say, "Aw I should have thrown in those exploding Teddy Bears", but by then it will be too late. But just little nuances like that can make a good game that starts off good but dies down pretty fast into an outstanding game that stands the test of time and has an incredulous amount of sequels.

My Game Design professer is always going on about Teddy Bears and how the class always wants to harm them! As for split-screen, I remember an interview that said Splash Damage wanted to have split-screen but it was too expensive.

I do agree with that, partwise.

But I really dislike the fact that you can just look at everyone's screen then. So LAN is good, splitscreen is not (in FPSs. It's fine in Worms).

But that's where half the fun is, arguing if someone is screening or not, although its inevitable seeing as four people are all playing on the same television set.

I never had any problem with tunnel vision even on a 4-way splitscreen.

I registered just to look into whether or not Brink was going to have splitscreen or not, and I am very disappointed to have found it doesn't. I can't believe it... Borderlands was great splitscreened. I love playing shooter games with friends and or girlfriend on the couch, and this game looks like it would be great that way.

Fine Splash Damage. Crush my dreams.

You are not alone in disappointment, my friend. I'd give up my friend's left pinky for it.

What an honorable sacrifice.

borderlands didn't... oh, right, console.
and that's the reason really, games don't go splitscreen on pc? well, SD isn't going to add a feature that they wouldn't put on pc.

what's the reason they don't put it on pc? well... why doesn't anyone else....?

Its not done on PC mainly due to lack of controls. Try plugging two mice into a computer, notice they both do the same input, rather than having two cursors.

The only splitscreen computer game I have ever been able to find was Duke Nukem, and I had to plug in a joystick for my little brother in order for that to happen.
