The inn at the start of Morrowind. I look around and then manage to loot a fork or something from a table which counted as stealing.

The result?

"YOU N'WAAAH!"
"DIIIIE OUTLANDER!"
"I WILL ENJOY WATCHING YOU DIE!"

Curses, screaming, death threats and mayhem ensues.

Nord raising his sword, people grabbing their staves and whatever weapons they have at hand and continuing to all BUTCHER ME ON THE SPOT!

That was my first experience with the elder scrolls and I have been loving it ever since

I had almost the same experience, except the thing I made the mistake of touching was the silver staff leaning against the wall. I thought you just clciked on stuff to buy it. It turns out that isn't how you buy things at all, lol. That was the tragic end of my first character. Reload.

It was that little Slaver cave that made me learn what reload was!

This is exactly how my first character died, I thought you clicked on stuff to buy it.

My second character decided to trek all the way from Balmora to Ald'ruhn.
He found out weapons could break at the Daedric ruin not far from Ald'ruhn and became trapped there.
No way to get past the enemies in every direction, no weapons, no (good) spells.

So every time I see a dead adventurer in Morrowind I can relate..
