What a frustrating game! It has so much potential; but it is so poorly executed, at least in the PS3 iteration. The good news is that I completed the main story line and all the Gates of Oblivion are closed. The bad news is that there are a number of aggravating glitches in the game. I failed to complete the Galladians's Tears (apologies if I misspelled the name) mission because I couldn't see the tears. I went back to retry it only to find that Frostfire Glade has disappeared. I can't advance as a Mage because the Vahtaceen ruin has disappeared. Roaming through the area where it used to be has not resurrected it. I can't complete the cure for Vampirism because the witch will not take the bloodgrass. The list goes on but I will spare you. I will never buy another game from Bethesda, which is a fourth rate studio for its lack of customer support. I hope other console players will join me in this boycott, since I understand the Xbox version has many glitches as well.

The only one of the things you mentioned that is an actual bug is the Vampirism cure problem, specific to the PS3 GOTY edition.

The Garridan's Tears are hard to see on all platforms, but it can be done. The reason your location disappeared is possibly that you reloaded from an earlier save, and skipped an essential part of the quest line. Check your journal to see what the last entry is.

Disappearing or non-loading game assets (like Vahtacen) might point to a problem with your disk (or your machine.) They can also possibly be the result of reloading and skipping steps in the quest line. You cannot skip steps in Oblivion quest lines, because the scripting uses sub-quests to determine when to activate certain quest targets.

I've done that quest at least 3 times, all PS3 games. The tears are hard to find but they are there. They are supposed to be hard to find. The questline at that moment is supposed to be tricky. We're running around, being chased by that frost monster thingy. *shudders*


No I will not join you. I've got the game on both Xbox and PS3, and I will just be upfront and tell you you're wasting your time here.

The vampire glitch is well known, but all the other things you've mentioned so far I've completed, and never had any problem with. On PS3. I would do some research if I were you. I would see if the Frostfire Glade problem is well-known, if other gamers have experienced it, and if they've figured out a way to deal with it.

By the way, how many hours is your game at?

man, the tears are notoriously hard to find. i've spent a lot of time looking for them and almost always just walk in sections slowly with frost resist at a 100 percent, while looking at the ground. i've never tried the Vampire cure because, i always take a cure disease immediately or am intentionally trying to be a vampire. as for the Vahtecen, that's a new one...i've always accidentally run into it so many times looking for the Umbra equipment it's ridiculous...Bethesda is known for glitches...people just accept it, keep multiple saves, figure out if the steps are correct to make sure they activated every step correctly before calling it a glitch...

Yeaaahhh, what partsman26 echoed: those tears are very hard to find. Using 1st person view is really the best way to do it. I don't know how you play, OP, but if you're using 3rd person during Frostfire, you need to change this.

I think glargg nailed it, on the mystery glitches. The OP did the quest out of order, so this messed things up. Or it could be the disc itself.
