Poison Mod

Post » Tue Mar 09, 2010 2:16 pm

Well, the topic about says everything. I am looking for a mod that makes use of potions with only bad effects. It always bothered me that there were potions in MW that were of little use because they were just destructive. When I played OB for the first time, I was excited to see that they finally had a use. Since MW is such a modifiable game, I thought just maybe there is something like that for MW now as well.. any mods that make use of such potions would be great.

Thank you to all who add their input. :)

even if morrowind is a highly modifiable game, this is only do-able with scripting and not that flexible as wished. a german modder is currently working on it in addition to skill-mastery (poisoning will be the skill mastery for alchemy).

There was a WIP from Fliggerty http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1268 but I don't know if it ever got out of its beta stage.

It never did. He had issues with the scripting I believe. Right now he's very busy with other things so this was put on the backburner. It's a great idea, but it's just not possible without some very complicated scripting using MWSE and Fligg never got it to work quite right.

I love that Obllivion system, if was one of the real valid reasons why an assassin type character would take up alchemy for roleplaying purposes. In the meantime Westly has some poisoned blades in his Mephala mod, and the Archane Archery mod has a spell that makes magical poisoned arrows

Hmm.. I thought this may have been the case, because I realize that it is indeed difficult to do. Can't blame someone for checking though. So many people approved of the OB system that odds were good it may have been carried back over to MW. I guess I'll just have to deal with enchanted blades and the like for now. Nonetheless it still bothers me that these kind of potions go unused. It would add another dynamic to potion making, despite coupus meat making it a little unbalanced. (I could just avoid these)

In the meantime, is there perhaps any mods that make use of these potions at all? Maybe even to trade over to an npc for some purpose or something? Even avoiding OB style poisoning, there must be something I can use them for besides just cash. :ahhh:

as i already stated, this will be part of the skill mastery mod. here is something our modder (killfetzer is his name :) ) said about poisoning:

I finally finished the poisoning of weapons. I mean, quite freely poisoning, it works with every weapon and self-brewed poisons. you won't need special potions or weapons. the downside is that the poison will always be the same strong, but it will be only available over level 80 and then the strongness of poisons does not change that much.
Morrowind knows 18 negative effects, which you may brew. it is not possible to use the drain attributes effects, because of the scripting method. weakness to fire, ice and blindness are also obsolete, because on one hand the ingredients are very rare and second it ay cause fatal errors on the player.
but there are also the silence and dispel potions which could be used on enemies for good.

So there remain 9 effects to use as poisons
- Drain fatigue
- Poison
- Paralyze
- Burden
- Drain Health
- Absorb health
- Dispel
- Drain Magic(ka)
- Silence

Once this mod is finished, you will need a good translator because of course this is a huge questmod as well. you will need to solve a special quest for each master trainer, till this skill mastery is available for you. but i will tell you once it's ready :)

Yep ! A number of mods have had missile enhancing but no-one has achieved the "poison apple " ! ( Qwerts Magic Missile mod , Farps Quivers and Fletching , Corvs Ultimate ranger mod ....etc .) MC does allow the creation of "grenades " with area effects including poisoning as well as poisons being brewable so that they can be applied to bolts , arrows and other missiles .
