Question about the bugs and glitches

Post » Wed Mar 10, 2010 3:00 pm

Ive bought Fallout New Vegas when it came out , though just on the very very ....first day, at exactly 30 mins or so....my game freezes
and every time i start to play this game in an hour or later it freezes and it also freezes in the loading screens , look bethesda i dont mind the glitches heck i dont even care about the patches of glitches , the one thing i hate is that i cant enjoy my game because it freezes and freezes , i didnt pay $60 for this ...i cant enjoy it with all the massive freezing.

...Bethesda should of worked in this game for two years atleast not within a year ...

now my question is

Can the game FREEZING ruin my PS3 console?

Do the massive bugs and glitches RUIN my PS3 console?

Is Bethesda working for a patch that can fix all the freezing issues?

DOES BETHESDA EVEN READ THE FORUMS!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?! >_<

If bethesda make the patch we are all in trouble...considering they didnt make the game.

The devs at Obsidian did read and comment on the forums...but a whole lot of unhappy users shouty abuse and whatnot at them about the bugs that they stopped telling us what was happening on the forums here. The do say the yare still reading the forums on the bugs people report, they just arent going to comment back to people anymore.

We’ve come up with solutions for the Xbox 360 save issue folks are reporting, along with a number of other issues being reported. We’re currently running final testing and certification on a comprehensive patch for all three platforms (PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3), so we’ll have something available in the coming weeks. When we have more details, we’ll let you know.

In the meantime, an incremental update for PC should be going up by early next week that will fix the save corruption issues and problems with companions, as well as improve performance for NVIDIA users and resolve some issues reported with Havok.

they just added this to the game updates sticky, we all just need a little more patience on these issues, i know alot of us are really angry but they are working on it, its not easy to patch games and even harder to patch problems that are caused by someone elses coding. once everything is fixed i hope everyone shows as much appreciation for all the effort done for these patches as they did hate, because they are apparently working themselves pretty damn hard to make amends for these issues

Patience? Why the *hell* should people be patient? Why do you feel that releasing this game, in this state, is acceptable?

Let me ask you:

If you paid 60 dollars for a shirt, then found it was missing buttons and had a hole in the armpit- would you be "patient"?

If you paid your 60 dollar electricity bill, but didn't have electricity for a week, would you be "patient"?

If you bought a brand new 60 dollar coffee machine and, out of the box, it wasn't working - would you be "patient" if you were told it would be fixed (MAYBE fixed, actually) - in a few weeks?/

In any other industry, releasing a broken product like this would lead to a class action suit.

For some strange reason - gamers think releasing broken (EXPENSIVE) software, is "ok".

Well, it's not "ok". It really isn't. It is NOT ok to charge a customer for a game that doesn't work. Period.

As for "making amends" - sorry, don't buy it.

And let me be very clear - coding a game for a PC leaves MUCH more leeway for bugs, since there are so many drivers/hardware configs to deal with. Obsidian DOES NOT get the same slack with a CONSOLE, since it does NOT have the variation that a PC does.

And little bugs/glitches are to be expected. COMPLETE UNPLAYABILITY - is not.

No, Obsidian did, but with Bethesda's tools.

Bethesda has had much more time with this engine and more likely to know more about it.

Frankly, I don't care who makes it as long as it's made, and it's functional. (More for others as I've been pretty lucky.)

I attribute Fallout 3's buggy nature to the slow decline in health of my first PS3, I didn't start having problems with it until shortly after I gave up trying to play the GOTY Edition of Fallout 3 due to the bugs (I had the game lock the system entirely 17 times in an hour during exploration of Point Lookout) but New Vegas has been a lot less buggy, so I've continued to play it. The glitches that stop companions traveling with you and give you trophies you haven't earned are annoying as hell, but I assume they'll be sorted out eventually. I hope.

Patching the game doesn't really make amends, however, it would be appreciated. I would thank them in turn. However, that being said, a broken product is a broken product, I don't remember being in an old run down pawn shop or flee market when I purchased this game. Simply fixing them product doesn't solve the issue. I see no voices from the developers anywhere, I've read they where here, but after getting yelled at they no longer post or respond. That is unacceptable, where not all carrying pitch forks and torches here, but regardless their not really letting us know whats going on at the moment. What bugs they have reproduced, wich are fixed, wich are temporarily mended or worked around, a detailed description of whats going on when the gears turn... I think thats kinda what people are wanting. Some think, the freezes will be patched, then the devs will move to DLCs. It has alot of people scared. Bethseda games are heavy on DLC... the way games move onto the floors now - a - days seems like DLC is being worked up even prior to launch. No, we need fan service Bethseda, Obsidian. I think we need transperancy. We are let down to the point some of us feel like we where mugged in the street. The game is twisted right now, a simple patch isn't going to fix most problems. How about a Dev Diary video set on you fixing the bugs. Fan service and transperancy in one. How about contests of user created pc mods cleaned up, polished, made offical and dropped for free on Live, PSN? Even so much as an apology would make alot of us feel just alittle better. How about pulling the product from store shelves since its in its current state... its November, how many grandmas got their grand sons and daughters this twisted version of what could of been a good fallout game? How many are going to experience what me, and everyone else here did on christmass eve? Given what we've been told so far, how do you know their working hard? Its November, we have thanksgiving, we have Christmass, we have New Years... Don't get me wrong, I don't want to spoil anyones holiday season, but as a gamer, ours is spoiled. Especially if you intended to punch out the winter on a controller. I just... ya know, fix it if you can, be transparent of what your doing, let us know. Forget about it to enjoy the time with your families, and then spoil us with fan service for amends.

Sincerely - InTheMojave

You make an excellent point InTheMojave - making "amends" has nothing, nada, zip and zilch to do with fixing a broken game. Making "amends" would be offering something IN ADDITION to the broken game (after cleaning it up of course), to make up for the frustration/inconvenience/time wasted/possible wear and tear on systems.

THAT would be "making amends".

So strange that we've come to thinking that fixing a broken product - a brand new broken product, is doing the consumer a "favor".

Go figure.

amen..

my thoughts exactly.. and I just don't understand how this could happen
with a console game... PC is one thing, but all my other games don't
have these kinds of problems on console.. a few minor things yes...
but not the constant freezing/crashing nightmare that this one is...

I haven't played it more than a couple of hours since the first day I
bought it which was release day because it will crash my PS3
everytime no matter what I do and the first patch did absolutely
nothing to address the crashing.. if it's anything like FO3 it's
gonna take months for the problems to be ironed out, and even
then it will only fix some of the problems...

FO3 still crashes my PS3, nothing like vegas...
but I bought the original version
and it was completely unplayable on my PS3 due to all the
crashing so I returned it and eventually got GOTY which is
better but it still crashes randomly and pretty often...

at least I can play it a little bit but if I try to get through the
story to the end it becomes a major pain in the neck due
to the crashing getting worse and worse closer to the end
of the game..

I just don't understand this kind of thing..
All my other games, and I mean ALL of them, don't have
problems anything like the fallout games so that tells me
something....

What also tells me something is that since FO3 was never
really fixed the way it should have been vegas isn't going to
be either.. there will be patches and such, and it might get
a bit better and a little easier to play, but the crashing will
still be there just like FO3 and that makes me sad..

This is such a great game series... IMHO one of the best
game series I've ever played, but why does there have to be
so many problems with the games and why aren't they ever
fixed so we the paying customers can enjoy these products
we are shelling out a lot of money for????

I could not agree more... UTTERLY MINDFUL AND CORRECT.. They pat themselves on the back when the game is in the can, and they get rich off our aggravation. Reminds me of all Republicans. Bastards. Curse you to the same evil disgust you have relegated ME to. DIE!

What about the one question "Will it damage the system if these crashes keep happening?" Well, I've kept my Fallout New Vegas in it's case for a while. The fist time I got a crash I got worried and made sure to put the game back into it's case. The truth is I'm worried that all these bugs and crashes could damage my PS3. I love the Fallout games but this is changing my mind. If this problem isn't fixed I'm going to give up on Fallout.

I think the patches are all right. When I got the game after the patch was sent out New Vegas didn't crash at all until i got 5 hours into the game. Let me say this I really think these patches can fix the game. Of course they can mess up and ruin the game with the patches. But, I believe that these patches can fix the game and take away all the bugs and crashes. I'm thinking about returning the game and waiting till they fix it.

My Advice: Return game till they get this problem fixed!

Return to Fallout: New Vegas
