Brink versus COD?

Post » Wed Mar 10, 2010 6:40 pm

Well, you would have to buy my entire Steam account to do that, once you registered a game on Steam the key is worthless.
But the're games on it which I still like ,HL2 is one of them.

Haha, yeah, I know. That's why I usually create new accounts for games I will probably want to give away later. :D

i love how everyone criticizes CoD, and goes in blind saying Brink is gonna be amazing. IMHO, the most recent CoD is not bad at all. Brink might actually be able to take some things from it. Theatre mode, Combat Training, the CoD Points system. This CoD is greatly improved over previous titles in the franchise, but people still hate on it. It's not really meant to be a team-based objective game. Its supposed to be a "who can do the best, kill the most" competition.

The main reason i criticise COD is the fact activition are now using it as a cash cow, Bobby Kotic could take a crap in a box write 'Call of Duty' on it and it would sell. Complacency does not breed innovation. COD4 was innovative, but nothing new has been done since; Theatre mode is not new, Combat Training is not new and COD points its as if tryarch could decide to use money (cos that what they really are) of lvls to unlock new stuff.

Its not a bad game but my main problem is now innovation.

the point is, andit's only one of many, once in so many games they put a new elements, and some people buy EVERY single game. even though the singleplayer is **** and way too short, the multiplayer is the same time and time again, and the guns are almost always salvaged from a previous game. just like the gunsounds.

even when something's new it's just ridiculous, crossbow, exploding RC-car(i mean, it's in the vietnamwar right? an RC-car? that can be controlled from 30m distance through walls? hah! and they call this game realistic), exploding arrows(as if the rocket launchers in MW2 weren't enough reason to misuse explosive power). the experience is always the same, and when a little thing changes everyone suddenly thinks it's worth buying.

i prefer calling them names until they come up with a game that has a different experience thank you very much.

I tell all of my friends who are maniacs over COD this every day. They don't even know who Kotic is! I personally have a ban over Activision because I refuse to buy anything that gives that man even a slice of the profits. He's splotch on gaming I say. I mean really he said Bungie is the only good independent developer. I just find that Kotic is simply using the fact that COD sells like hot cakes just to push his profits up. No game company can possibly keep up an annual release of a game in a series and keep it fresh and new, I don't even think SD could do that.

And as said before we are the "Refugee Camp" of FPS players and you know what I'm proud to be in this camp with you guys and gals, the people who want innovation in this truthfully dying genre. :)

The franchise and it's followers are guilty of such harsh criticism because you try and change every damn game into a COD clone. You guys are like a disease, seriously..... not everyone wants to play a mindless pick up and play twitch shooter that takes no skill to master. COD is the very definition of lowest common denominator, it is the McDonalds of FPS games so pardon us if we have more mature tastes in video games.

BTW, the two games shouldn't even be uttered in the same sentence.

Cod is alright, but if given the option I prefer salmon or grouper.

But really, Black Ops gameplay is exactly like MW2, except there are less quickscopers. One thing I was very pleased with was the removal of the gamebreaking stopping power, but I'm disappointed in some of the other choices they made. They should have removed the sound canceling effect of ninja. Just because you spent $60+ dollars on headphones doesn't mean you should have an extremely unfair advantage by being able to detect people across the map with sound.

Also, the RC-XD is probably one of the most frustrating aspects of a game I have ever experienced. They are extremely fast, you can't hear them coming until it's too late (unless you have headphones of course!), and even if you manage to kill them they still blow up near you and you die. It's an insta-win for the user, and since people are greedy they choose RCXD instead of spy plane. Thus, for a whopping one kill they eliminate the possibility of helping the team get many more kills as a whole. I wouldn't say its a failure of a game, but if someone asked me if I recommended it I'd have to say no. Just go play MW2, it's basically the same experience.

Brink on the other hand I expect to be exponentially better than cod and is guaranteed to have innovative gameplay compared to the progression of the cod or halo series.

CoD is a pathetic franchise, and is a blight to gaming. Same garbage slightly different format, with 3 maps packs between releases. Sad thing is people herd like their [censored] cattle. Mooo

Not to mention MWF/MWF2/BO have set world record entertainment sales and can't even spare a year between games to actually do something innovative.(entertainment includes movies, books, everything). Smells like BO. Any true gamer should not support a product like this, or you like being milked. Mooo.

(CoD 2, Nov 15th, 2005 ---- CoD3, Nov 7th, 2006------MWF, Nov 7th, 2007 ---- World at War, Nov 14, 2008---- MWF2 = Nov 10, 2009-----Black Ops Nov 9, 2010) Yea real innovation going on here. They impliment fan feedback, whoopdie doo.

Im with Brotox, it is blasphemy to even mention these two games in the same sentance. Did I say moooooo?

COD is the very definition of lowest common denominator, it is the McDonalds of FPS games so pardon us if we have more mature tastes in video games.

The DEVELOPERS are guilty of their lack of creativity and the lack of BALLS to come up with their own ideas. And if they come up with some good ideas (All Points Bulletin for example), they get punished by the players who don't acknowledge the great aspects of a game but simply misjudge it because of issues almost every other game has as well.

Also, I like McDonalds. Yes, it is unhealthy, but once in a month I like the good taste of a Big Mac.

Also, the RC-XD is probably one of the most frustrating aspects of a game I have ever experienced. They are extremely fast, you can't hear them coming until it's too late (unless you have headphones of course!), and even if you manage to kill them they still blow up near you and you die. The RC-XD isn't too different to a Claynore, really. Unlike the Claymore, it moves, of course. But unlike they Claymore, it makes you a sitting duck and easiest kill for everyone getting a jump on you.

Also the Spy-Plane is way more devastating, because it allows you to get 3-8 easy kills without much hard work, but simple map-tracking.

I admit I did buy Black Ops just because I was bored becuase Brink isn't out yet. Anyways, I find it not bad of game compared to all the other CODs, but I still not fan of the COD games. I admit they fix many issues from MW2 and I do find there are some nice touches to the game like COD points, and it is nice to have the ability to have your scopes and silencers early in the game. However, it is still COD and nothing new really has been added to COD. It is one of these games that I will be trading in once Brink and Crysis 2 comes out. But what drives me crazy is the really stupid "RC Car" wow that kill streak is so unbalanced in the game. I think I killed by the kills streak at least 5 times or more in single match. They should have make this on available for 5+ skills not 3. Also enough with the kills streaks and perks...here is gun point and shoot.

I am so glad that Brink will be out soon. This is the place to be for "Refugee Camp" of FPS players who want change, fun and something new and innovative. Count me in!!

Exactly,I'm looking for the same game experience which I found in those 2 games.
Lesser arcadestyle,more teambased,
Its a shame ETQW didnt have/has a large playerbase to keep the game alive.
I found many players didnt understand how to play ETQW in the proper way.
But for alot people is the fact they have to coop with tactics, teamsupporting, communication too much.
Most want to blindly shoot at people and dont wanna think about how to win the round, but be on top of the scorelist.

Hi,
Yeah,I bought the BO game,my fault I know.
But after 3 weeks i'm done with it.
First of all its a console port and very poor optimized for pc,apparently people with heavy quad cores(I5-I7) are the only ones who can play without much stutter/freezes.
Second its bugged like hell and there is absolutly no support from the devs untill now.
MP is bugged, leaderboards ,stats, points,xp are randomly resetting.
I'm now in the position where I cant buy guns, cant create classes, cant change anything and stuck with two(2) weapons an after reaching Prestige 1 lvl 30 thrown back to lvl 1 :P
They made one little patch which made things worse in most cases.
...............

That bug where you can′t buy new guns after you prestige is a knowed bug, in order to be able to able to buy that specific gun, you need to have the same avaible $ of the costs you spent on it before you prestige so lets say you bought camo/ reticle / reticle color / logo/ extended magazine etc etc for you ak47 before u prestige you will need to have the total spent $ avaible on to be able to buy it.
