There are no mystic elves in TES.

Perhaps you're thinking of the Aldmer, the first Elves. Maybe even the Ehlnofey, who were the first general "beings," excluding the et'Ada.

As Mariel has put, no Mystic Elves exist.

And I still don't know why Ken Rolston wrote Vivec's quest dialogue.

I don't know, either. I'm assuming MK just does Lore for TES, and dialogue is the responsibility of someone else (not that dialogue can't be Lore, because it can...i'm just saying that it might be a different job within Bethesda's offices).

Come to think of it, I don't think he wrote Mankar's dialogue, either.

I saw that in th e"M(an)K(ar)" bit, but I was hoping Mankar maybe meant something in one language or another.

In the "Commentaries", Mankar refers to himself as "the Mankar" as well, like it's some sort of title:

"I, the Mankar of stars, am with you, and I come to take you to my Paradise where the Tower-traitors shall hang on glass wracks until they smile with the new revolution.

Notice the "of stars" bit, maybe suggesting that he's not the only Mankar hanging out in paradise.

And, to be clear, did MK write all of the Commentaries, or just the "Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes," which were released before the game?

Well I would assume that when they released the first two books of "Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes" before the games release, they were just taking them out of the whole? It'd be kind of silly if they didn't. Not to mention the changes in nuance of writing style if they used two separate authors for the whole work.

Thanks for that. It's basic, but perhaps it goes along with "diviner" in the verbal sense.

Of course, I'm sure the REAL meaning is deeper. I'll do more reading.

It's not really because he is a ruling king, which he isn't, it's just because he is royalty. Mankar comes from a different line of kings, a line that originally wore the amulet. That "right of rule" that he has, and has largely given himself, allows him to wear the AoK.

But he is rebel. I find the ruling king/rebel explanation more favourable.

I knew he wrote the dialogue for the Prophet, as well as him being credited for quest design in MW, but I was unsure if he wrote the dialogue for Mankar.

A rebel is just a king in the wings, and royalty on either side.

A ruling king knows no equal, and doesn't wonder if he rules indeed.

Perhaps he's referring to "mythic elves", or the Old Elves from before the racial splits - basically Aldmer.

Well, Camoran is anything but racially pure. Based on his attributes and his biography, he's a bit of a mutt, in much the same vein as Jagar Tharn. Both of these men were master sorcerers and both had some Ayleid blood, and probably more than a little mannish blood as well as who knows what else mixed in.

Ken was responsible for the MQ in MW, so that's part of it. The larger part is that Vivec's voice is Legion, and it was only fitting that he had more than one author.
