Bethesda Doesn't Care!

*Quote for brevity only*

I decided last night I'm not going to just wait and be patient...
I shouldn't have to with constant crashes...
I'm going to take this game back to the store,
trade it in for something else and maybe get the last
GOTY release or whatever it's called and hope that one
at least works good enough to play it...

Other than that... I give up..

M

I think that all of that post was very well said.
It's unfortunate that I have come to agree with your sentiments.

Having bought the game on launch day, I experienced my first freezing problems that weekend.
Now, as of tomorrow (Tuesday), it will have been three weeks. How long are we supposed to be patient? A month? Two months? Six months? "As long as it takes?"
Blah.

I hate to say it but it's just time to sell this game back to Gamsestop at a loss and just move on. There are a lot of other great games coming out.

Ok people. I don't care if Bethesda made it, Obsidion made it or satan himself. They slapped their big fat name on the cover and are reaping the $$$ from it. If you sell snake oil to people knowing it's snake oil you are no better than the guy bottling it. Here are some of the problems.

(1) This is not their first game. They should know better.
(2) These are the same Friggin problems and complaints as the last umpteen games befor this one.
(3) They have a track record of not fixing the MAJOR problems that make these games unplayable.

Again, I have Oblivion GOTY and Fallout3 GOTY and it's the SAME THING!!!! How many times does someone have to fall off the same horse to say "F riding horses, I'm taking the bus"?
And to all the people posting about how wonderful these magical companies are, thats great. I'm really glad your super awesome PS3 system works flawlessly and you have never had a glitch. But this is for the consumers who actually have major issues. Of course you have nothing bad to say, if your system works great. I'm not debating the fact that it's a great game (when it works) or I wouldn't have ordered the super, mega, awesome special per-order. The issue is in 6 hrs multiple people have posted on this thread and other threads on the Fallout Forums with almost exactly the same problems less than a week from it's release. I'v kept Oblivion and Fo3 because they are fun games, but I can't deal with another bug filled, frozen waste of time. There are stores full of great, polished PS3 games that I will spend my time and money on but. Bethesda/Obsidian/Havok and whoever else wants (needs) to take responsibility for this mess needs to hit the drawing board. O yeah, and to all you dudes and ladies that have these flawless copies/PS3's, why are you wasting you time surfing "FoNV performance problem fourms" and NOT PLAYING THE GAME?!?!?!?!?!?!

Awesome post, I mean I was about to make a post regarding Bethesda/Obsidian releasing a game so plagued with glitches that it's virtually unplayable (completely unplayable in my case since I can't enter the strip at all without the game freezing up), but you summed everything up perfectly. I also find it interesting that people with perfect copies of the game are browsing the FoNV performance problem forums.

I'm interested to see how fast the used game
section at gamestop will fill up with "used"
copies of this game... lol

Pretty fast I'd have to guess....

I had no problems with the plain vanilla FO3 CE. So I bought the GOTY. HUGE MISTAKE. After the FO3 GOTY (GRIFT of The Year) edition for PS3, I came to the realization, that once Bethesda has your money.... you are at their mercy or basically on your own. After posting the now infamous "we are aware of the issues and working on a patch" propaganda, I waited patiently for them to live up to their promise. It never happened, there's still parts of it that are unplayable.

PUMP and DUMP. Hype the bejeezus out of it pre-release, take the money, and start to dangle the patch on a stick (aka carrot on a stick) to the hapless victims (aka PAYING CUSTOMERS) while the return clock ticks down.

The trade in value of FO3 GOTY was $5 - $10 after 2 weeks at Gamestop, and in week 3 they weren't taking them at all. SO if you're thinking of bailing...

I had truly hoped that this time would be different. After reading Gamespot's second hands on review, which mentioned nothing of the unplayability factor btw, 5 weeks before the release of F:NV, I made the commitment and pre-ordered the F:NV CE from BestBuy.

The game has sat here for 3 weeks, UNOPENED and mocking me for drinking the kool-aid AGAIN. I had to stop reading this forum because I felt like such a svcker. When I logged in today, I saw that, the patch on a stick, maybe in the next few weeks.

I returned an unopened CE to BestBuy today for a full refund. It was painful, I hope they fix it for everyone who presumed it would work on release day and opened their game.

I'm not sure if I will ever buy another Bethesda game, I really don't trust them anymore.

Bethesda didn't make this game, Obsidian did.

And I'm not having anywhere near the degree of problems a few of you mention. Perhaps you should try "Restore File System" to defrag to defrag the harddrive, if your on the 360 I'm sure there's a similar method.

Hey, Bethesda put their damn name on the game, and the guide, so as far as i am concerned, they are just as much to blame as Obsidian, if not more so.

I don't understand why if FO3 was alright, glitch wise, and FO3 GOTY edition almost unplayable (I played them both) this game plays like FO3 GOTY. I read an interview with one of the heads at Obsidian and he seemed pretty clued up on the positives and cons of FO3 and I actually felt confident he'd address some of the issues (how dumb am I). In truth I think the real problem with this situation is that FallOut has no competition. There's no game (on consoles anyway) that has the playability, scope, open world, mix of RPG and FP-Shooter. It's why we all bought it even after FO3 GOTY/DLC disaster. Other developers are missing a huge opportunity here, just look at the loyalty (misplaced maybe) FO has.
As for them fixing it, I wonder whether FONV and FO3 GOTY are actually fundamentally broken and no matter how many patches it'll never be sorted. Maybe they know this and it's why no statement has come out from Bethesda or Obsidian.

Are people really bantering back and forth about whether or not this game is playable?
-Freeze every 20 minutes or so with all default settings.
-Endlessly bugged quests, either not completeable, or endlessly repeatable, or only completable 1 way.
-Faction bugs that will cause all Quest givers of a certain faction to go hostile towards you, regardless of your reputation.
-Thousands of things for whatever reason you get stuck on unable to move, this includes invisible things you cannot see...
-Mobs able to fall threw the game and kill you without you being able to target them,
-Vats for whatever reason not working.
-Vats slow down bug where you move slower, camera moves slower, your not in vats, but the game runs as if you where,
enemies can still hurt you, and trying to defend yourself only results in out of ammo clicks.(even with melee weapons).
-For whatever reason my guy turning into string cheese.(literally...)
-Weapon scope showing the hacking computer terminal..... really.....
-Items falling threw the ground, unable to reach them... sometimes these are important things.
-me falling threw the ground....
-my companions falling threw the ground.
-Companions randomly dieing, or worse yet, actually leaving you, going off on their own, and later you get the "***** has died message".
-For some reason my Vats perks only work sometimes... they don't increase my chance to hit all the time, and that is with testing.
(testing at multiple ranges, multiple weapons, and multiple levels i've taken perk)
-Computer hack terminal attempts with bugged keywords, sometimes theres been no right answer, that is trying logically doing the mini game
and actually putting thought into finding the word. Posted it before, but i've once found, Leaders 4/6 correct, then I choose Dealers 2/6 correct heh.
-Even without the "terrible terrible your gonna die mode" vats bug above, sometimes your weapon fails to shoot, and just results in an out of ammo click
(i've found a quick reload, or if you have a melee weapon and your getting the out of ammo click(yes indeed), go into pip boy, equip something, then equip
your melee weapon back..

thats just to name afew man... most of these encountered on my first, day or first few hours in game... I don't buy the freeze being a overheating issue, my ps3 has been off all day,
10 bucks says i can turn it on, with all default settings, using vats listening to the radio ect.(play the game as intended), i'll freeze before I get threw the tutorial quest on a new character.
Sometimes these freezes are back to back, freeze, hard reset, load up, walk threw the door, freeze... hard reset... load back up, play long enouph to get out of the door, and fast travel to a new
location... freeze........... Load back up, at the new location, turn around start to walk out of town.. stuck on the gate... can't get off.... eh... load back in. Fast travel to a new location, some random npc
runs up to me to initiate dialogue, before the text appears, staring at his face.. freeze..... (thats about as accurate a review on my gameplay experience that I can give.) Kudos to you guys without problems,
wish I was one, but don't scoff about people claiming the game is unplayable... if your persistant, don't care about your console dieing from the wear and tear, you can trudge threw this game.
But thats about all alot of us can do.

hmmm, i wonder

I wonder if there might be any legal courses of action here? I mean, beyond the return the game for half credit. There just might be something.

Absolutely no legal options. You agreed to the end user license agreement to play the game. They don't owe us anything, aside from the decency to make a properly working product once in 7 years.

I personally spent almost more time reloading and restarting my ps3 than i spent playing... and im not exaggerating in any ways.. I have never seen nor heard such a bugged/glitchy game like this... and the simple fact that im here wasting my time, writing a game review for the 1st time proves just how disappointed i am..
I also just learned about the same crap has happened for oblivion and some expansions of fallout 3. It would seem the title of this thread is accurate and true...
I have refunded my game and I am boycotting anything remotely related to Bethesda from now on... They used up all their strikes... Bunch of amateurs, or should i say scammers/thieves since their dictionary definitions clearly seem to include these behaviors..
I sincerely hope there will be collective measure taken against them, that's the least that should happen.

Well I already returned my copy at gamestop yesterday
and picked a couple of other games at the same time..

and you know what's funny?? (or maybe not..)

I played both of those games for hours and hours,
no glitches, no crashes/freezes, no problems...

Can't tell me it's my PS3, I don't buy it...
