Fast Travel System

I concur, so long as alternative methods are created for those who wish to toggle FT off. Caravans or marked trails or Mage's Guild teleporting or some such.

Part of what will help make FT less all consuming is when (and if) Bethesda return to hand placing weapons and creatures instead of just making everything magically get better as the player does.

Yup, I too hope for some kind of coach, cart, wagon ride, boat, animal, or what have you now, for a system of FT that is limited to main cities and points on the map.

Indeed, that way my hoity toity Imperial/Altmer can look down with disdain as the "lesser races" trod through the mud. I love me some Altmer, so obnoxious.

Heres what I'm thinking the coach is for nobility while 'the cart' is like TARC in the cities only its fast and dangerous. The cart is cheap and decently fast but their is a chance of being robbed by highwaymen, bandits, or hell the cart owner might be in cohoots with the bandits and drive you all off the road to be robbed.

It may be more convenient much mre dangerous. Also in The Cart you meet many 'interesting' people, gamblers, brawlers, unlucky passengers, and many other pariah. The Cart is for quick cheap travel for most people, people are huddled up in a small cart with a thin canvas over their heads and hay seating. This method of travel is used by many poor, or people trying to find the quickest way out of town due to their history or debts.

Randoms events include-well if their were-

Bandits -always kill you
Highwayman- just rob you won't kill you if you pay.
Cart tips over from taking a sharp turn, some people may be dead or injured, you might get injured less your endurance and agility are high enough.
(good chance to feel around the dead passengers pockets)
Corrupt cart driver leads you off to some bandits.
Wild animals
etc

The wagon could just be a merchant convoy your traveling with, its the slowest but the safest and costs medium price. You may or may not have to help with the carts/food/ or gaurd on the way. Its the slowest but genuinely the safest. As long as you have a good reason or good mercantile and speech skills you can skip out on work.

Coach is a good speed and always goes the safest roads but pays the highest but more luxorious. Don't lift a finger and take a nap.

Maybe a bit to detailed for a FT system but I like details.

I honestly don't care what they will use, etc... but I have had more memorable moments in Morrowind than Oblivion just going around, exploring, which seemed much more fun then click a area on a map... which I can't help but use in Oblivion because it gets me around faster. I have had memorable moments in Oblivion, few though.

That would be cool and could lead into some interesting encounters. Something like the Random Encounters from the Fallout series, where there is a xx% chance anytime you board a Cart/Wagon/Coach that you might meet a certain NPC.

Could have just like 2 or 3 possible encounters for each of those three and that could already add some cool stuff instead of just Point and Click Map.

Plus if the Map was Togglable and this system was integrated you could always just FT if you felt like it and roleplay if you felt like it.

I hope Bethesda actually puts some thought into it like you have instead of just implementing Fast Travel from and to everywhere and a compass that shows you where everything is.

One problem: Gryphons don't exist in Tamriel.

make them exist...unless you want to try and ride cliff racers :P

People who have been following the series for a while don't tend to like the idea of adding stuff with no history just because it would "be cool"

Fast travel only to major cities on main roads/rivers IMO.
Keeps some danger in travel and exploration but cuts out the less interesting part.

No fast travel. Instead go back to traditional means of traveling..

You can't just... make them exist... :P

But you're damn right I wanna ride a Cliff Racer! I don't even have to fight anyone, Cliffy would do it for me!

Hell, Jiub only pushed them out of Morrowind, nothing was said about them dying- where could they have gone? If not Black Marsh, then... yes, SKYRIM.

I would like the only fast travel to be like it was in Morrowind. Go to a travel service, pay your gold and voila.

Lol according to the lore, cliffracers pushed the dragons out of Morrowind. I jokingly imagined the story revolving around the dragons final stand against the cliffracers like custards last battle :P
