Greetings all,
Does anyone know if the games prior to Morrowind will also be made available for the Xbox360?
I have Morrowind and Oblivion-

Oblivion can be play in Xbox360, PS3, and the PC. I recommend the PC version if one can obtain it and if their computer can handle it.

I think they meant will any of the older gamers be released. If so I would imagine no, many people wanted a juiced up version of Morrowind but it never happen so I doubt Beth will re-release any of the older games.

That's not gonna happen, no. Beth's got their plate full with current projects. Arena's available for free, but PC only.

Hardly any XBox360 players would buy those old games. It wouldn't be worth it for them.

You might be able to play the older games on PC - it's not like the require the PC rigs of more recent games. Daggerfall is notoriously buggy though, if you can even find a copy. :)

the only reason you can play morrowind on a 360 is because its an original xbox game and so a patch was released to make it backwards compatible and work on the 360.all other elder scrolls games are much older and therefore obviously not xbox games.

You can get Arena - ES1, and Daggerfall - ES2, on the web I think, but both run in DOS, so you would need to get a utility called DOSbox which emulates a DOS environment on a PC.
I have tried this and it does work, but it's not just push a button or click to make them work. So you would not be able to run them on the Xbox.

Get a PC, much more fun. LOL

The reason is that the older games would have to be reprogrammed to run on and xbox, as they are both DOS programs. Not to mention you must play them with a mouse, it wouldnt work with just a console control.

So it wuld be impossible, the only way to play them is on PC, and you generally need a stronger PC to play them as the DOSbox emulation program requires a good CPU and RAM.

And talking about DOOM, it was reprogammed to Window 95/98 format, making the conversion to Xbox easier.

Lastly, this would be better in the past games forum (the one above the community forum) as it isnt about oblivion at all, but the past games.

Doom was approximately 1.477 times ten to the third power times more popular than Arena, so there's a potential market for it. Not so much for Arena.

And I believe I heard a rumor a long time ago that Daggerfall's source code was lost. But that was.. 3-4 years ago when there were Daggerfall restoration projects going on by... Dark Mouse (If I recall correctly.) It's been a long time. :P

Never going to happen. There just isn't enough popularity there to credit completely rewriting the program to work on the 360 (would have to either completely rewrite the code or make a DOS emulator on the 360...Just thinking of what the GUI would look like gives me nightmares). With that out of the way, there's the problem of it being ridiculous to control with a controller.

It's a pipe dream, at best.

and besides, peeps with consoles are graphics-[censored]s anyway, they would prob die when seeing those old graphics.

a fine example is my own friend, he cant stand shooters on PC cuz he says they look ugly (crysis included) but he almost touches himself when playing them on PS3..

the only reason he thinks that is because he either:

a ) has a crappy graphics card or an old moniter (Things look good on LCD monitors)

b ) has his TV hooked up to a widescreen LCD TV

if he has a good graphics card he should look to hooking it up to his TV....
