Obviously. No glitch is supposed to be there, whether you can use it to your advantage or not.

That my good sir is not entirely true. Some game companys put one or two glitches in on purpose because.... Well why the hell not! You could use the scroll glitch to your own advantage as well as others.

I think it is nessary for later playthroughs on consoles, because no mods or console there. This time I won't make the mistake of buying the game first on consoles, but I would still prefer that consoleplayers can do stupid stuff like multiplying thousands of watermelons or glitch their speed to 300 and up...

...What scroll glitch?

Let's se if I can remember here...

Step 1: Get any number of the same type of scroll (so they stack)
Step 2: Get an item you want to clone (I'm pretty sure there's some you can't though)
Step 3: Swing your weapon, then, in mid swing, open your inventory
Step 4: Go down to the stack of scrolls and double click them
Step 5: Drop the item you want to dupe, this should create a number of items equal to the number of scrolls you used
Step 6: Pick the items up

Note: This is for oblivion, just incase you were unsure

It is hugely unbalanced, as soon as you leave the tutorial, chances are you'll have 2 of one type of scroll and one of another, using them you can create more and more scrolls, then dupe hundreds of items at a time. I will admit though, it can be useful at times.

No, I don't think that they should keep it. Even if it was fun to multiply thousands of watermelons for no reason at all.

snip

Oh THAT scroll glitch. For some reason I thought this was about some sort of glitch that happened if you used the scroll wheel on a mouse.

No they shouldn't keep it. In fact, they got rid of it in Oblivion with a patch.

I don't mean "supposed to be there" as in whether they were put in there on purpose or not. The very definition of a glitch is that it's a malfunction.

The scroll dublication exploit (and the earlier arrow duplication exploit) were http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O94YJ2p7DoU&feature=related at times, but i think we need to see some new stuff for the next installment.

Yes, they were helpful with they weren't overused, and hilarious when taken to extremes, but mostly they had the potential to be game breaking. I ended up using them mostly for amassing huge quantities of alchemicl ingredients to make massive quantities of extremely deadly poisons... which were also rather game-breaking (but that's another story).

I mean if you really need some extras of a particular item you can just use the console. I don't see that leaving Beth games anythime soon.

If it wasn't meant to be in Oblivion, I doubt it'll be put into Skyrim.
Not that I want it anyway, the fewer glitches the better, though i'm sure there will be another abusable glitch.

It's true, with such comprehensively massive games in the TES series, I think it would be nearly impossibly for Beth of patch up every single exploitable glitch that comes to light in a game. From the 'Scroll Duplication' exploit in Oblivion to joining two great houses in Morrowind... there will always be something that falls through the cracks.

In general, glitches are something that is not to be desired in games. While there have been a few instances in the past of developers actually making glitches from past games part of a new one creating http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AscendedGlitch, this generally only occurs with bugs that, despite being unintentional, are well recieved by the fandom, and are usually one that don't harm the gameplay experience. This particular bug seems to be of the sort that can ruin game balance, and aside from its comic value, people would only want to keep it for this reason, so it seems to me like the sort of thing that should go.

They're not going to intentionally put specific glitches in the game. :P

PCs get the construction set which lets them do almost anything.

We consoles should have SOMETHING that lets us multiply items. Its fair right?

I agree. If PC's can use console to add 100000 gold then console players should have a means to.

I RP like theres no tommorow and it ADDS to immersion if you RP'ing a character who has lots of money from the start without having to grind for hours on end collectiing weapons to sell.

No. Obviously. Sounds like a bug and bugs should be fixed. Never heard of it before.

Some of these threads are just silly. You first ask us if we want them to "keep the scroll glitch" (which implies they knowingly ignore fixing it) and then later on you reveal you really just meant any silly glitches that can be exploited for laughs and maybe gain. Why did you make this thread about the scroll glitch? Why didn't you just ask "Do you want exploitable glitches?" and then talked about how Bethesda games are known for their, often humorous, glitches and if the forums would actually enjoy if some of the sillier glitches got through development unfixed? You could have mentioned the paint brush glitch and dupe glitches as examples of this.

Considering the fact that they're rolling out a brand new in-house developed engine for Skyrim, I'm sure it will have it's own share of interesting... "features"
