Why does fallout look like something from the 1960's?

If the great war happened in 2070's why does everything look 1960 to 1970s... From cars to computers. In 2012 we are an computerized world. Why does fallout show no remains of this. Maybe in the next fallout we can see some debris that came from this era. Rework Terminals to be plasma screens, Maybe buildings that have teh remains of alot of screens. Cars redone. (Lets see some modern cars)

The only thing in the fallout universe that looks like its from past 2000, is the guns. Thats it, just the guns. Maybe even rework the pipboy, add phones.

On a side note: Whats happening out of america, ever thought of Fallout International. Takes place starting in the remains of britan, where theyve restarted society, Then they start to expand outward to see what happened to the other world powers.

It's supposed to look like the 1950s.

Sometime during the 1950s the timeline split. The Fallout Universe went one way in terms of technology and culture and ours went the way it went.
