I've spent 4 hours on google searching for ways to fix this but they never work and whenever I start a new game it crashes to a black screen. Here's my Dxdiag, any ideas?

Also post your load order if you have any mods. Also, did windows update recently? I know on my machine it tried to auto update my video drivers, and downloaded the wrong ones. Had to to a roll back to get my games working again, and manually install the right drivers. Just saw that your video drivers were last updated a month+ ago. So probably not that.

Actually thats not far off normal for Vista. This is a reason they say vista alone needs 1GB of RAM, and if you are running vista with less then 2GB total system RAM, then you ain't too bright.


My money is on this being related to your problem. Did you upgrade your card recently? If so, delete the ini files called "Fallout.ini" in your "Documents\My Games\Fallout3" folder.

If not that, then try reinstalling the game. Need to make Fallout recognize your proper graphic card.

Okay what's the problem here?

The way I see it there are 5 possibilities.

1. I haven't provided enough information.
2. It simply isn't compatible with my computer set up.
3. The problem is just too complex for the community.
4. There is some kind of unspoken rule for new game crashes because all of the topics never go anywhere.
5. I've been rude in someway or broken an unspoken rule.

I'm happy if someone can just tell me that I shouldn't bother pursuing this problem for some reason, you don't have to provide a solution. Some closure for the situation would greatly appreciated.

To be honest, even I'm running out of ideas to suggest to you. Tried updating your onboard sound drivers? Try updating your motherboard chipset drivers?


And while I don't see any intrusive codecs in your dxdiag, maybe you should just try K-Lite's Codec Pack (basic) anyways to deal with them. Use the 64-bit one too if your OS happens to be 64-bit.
