NPC won't equip modded armor D:

Post » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:17 am

Hey. I'm kind of new to forums, and kind of new to modding aswell.

In the construction set, I've added a female NPC into the world, and put some armor into her inventory. I downloaded some of that armour from tesnexus (elwing dress, elwing shorts, a ranger hood and a cape) and some of the armor in her inventory is from the game (leather gauntlets, boots)

In the construction set, it shows the character wearing all the armor, but when I find this NPC in the game, she isn't wearing any of the mod armour, but IS wearing the leather armour from the game. (she's naked apart from gauntles + boots.)

I'm kind of a noob, so if you have a solution to my problem (which I hope you do) please dumb it down a bit for me :P

Thx for reading :3

I think they'll wear whichever is better for them. How do they compare stat-wise? And is she better with Light or Heavy armor?

The game doesn't allow the elwing.esp (or whatever it's called) to be a master of your esp, because only esm files can be a master of another file.
If you want a esp to be a master file of another esp, you have to do http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/De-Isolation_Tutorial.

She's better with light armor, but what I want her to wear is clothing - but it's ok I've got it fixed now, thanks :3

Correction: the game doesn't mind at all, it's the Construction Set that takes exception. I have many .esps that depend on another .esp.

This tends to happen when you try to use item from one mod in another. Try http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/De-Isolation_Tutorial

Ah poo... with the plugin mod I created as the active file (which contains a small terrain edit, aswell as the NPC in question), I converted the mods with the armor I wanted in them into ESMs with TES4Gecko and used them in MY mod... I figured it'd be ok since those mods hadn't edited the terrain in any way, and although the active file had, it was still an esp. I guess I should have thought it over more. Now my terrain's spazzed up... trial and error x3

I'm now using TES4Gecko to try and merge the oblivion master file with the original armor mod esp files so they don't conflict, but I get an error message saying java ran out of memory space. >.< this is hard...
