So I was playing New Vegas today, and out of the blue I went to the Silver Rush for the first time in this particular game. Now I assume everyone knows about the little "demonstration" that Gloria gives the player and Mr. Soren when they first enter.

Well at first, I waited patiently for the scene to end like it always does (she normally just has Jean-Baptiste shoot the guy) and then suddenly it played out alot differently than the countless others times I've seen it happen.

Essentially, Gloria goes off on a story about how she once loved the man they are about to kill and its a good two minutes longer than usual.

At then end then, Gloria and Jean-Baptiste talk a bit more about how Gloria shouldn't "tip" the help, and why Jean-Baptiste originally thought she just made that story up.

Does it use cut dialogue for that scene then? (I assume)

Yes, it was all recorded (a lot of dialogue was that's not used in the game) and the whole scene was set up, just deactivated. Makes a lot more sense with this extended one way. The original is just sort of "Here's this guy, for some reason he's tied up, and completely unrelated to Mr. Soren, but we're killing him, be scared."

Agreed. I'm guessing they cut it because of length and the players not wanting to see that every time they went in for the first time, but it makes for such a better bit of dialogue.

Now Gloria's line of "Never break faith" actually makes more sense. Since before it was just a random guy getting killed and then Mr. Soren running off as if he never believed these people capable of killing someone.
