Missing journal entries with Morag Tong

Post » Wed Mar 17, 2010 4:24 am

So my character assassinates honorably but no journal entry appears after the assassination. This happened with all my writs and this never happened before. (when i did not use MCP e.g.)
Could this be mod related? And so, which mod?
Thanks

Well, that's three of us so far. My husband Jac and I have had the same issue. It seems that something (possibly the very latest MCP) has broken the 'OnDeath' function dependent journal updates. I can't think of any way to verify that MCP is the culprit other than the three of us comparing our mod lists, seeing which 3PP we all run, and removing them one by one. If all three of us manage to solve the problem by removing MCP, that might be a step in the right direction. If we can narrow it down to one possible mod or program, two people sharing this issue could be a coincidence, three is pushing it.

So if you post your mod list, it can be narrowed down to only the mods we use in common

Jac and I both looked at your list and compared it with ours. The only one all three of us share, other than MCP, is Census and Excise. Fliggerty knows about the issue now and is working on a fix. Thanks for posting, it really did make a difference. I recommend you go ahead and uncheck C&E during gameplay. If you want to keep uploading your character until the fix is out, you can check C&E, follow the usual process, and then uncheck it again after uploading.

No need to post a mod list. It's included in the character's profile upload. Check the character's menu. ;)

I am fairly sure these issues are related. I'm trying to replicate the error now so that I can address it.

Edit: Hey, would someone who is having this error be willing to test an updated esp for me within the next few minutes?

I can confirm that it's C&E causing the issue. If an NPC's health is set to 0 via a script command, the OnDeath works as normal. But, if you kill that NPC, the OnDeath doesn't fire. I'm guessing it's because C&E is checking for OnDeath and is reseting the flag.

Thanks you all, i am going to uncheck C&E (sorry Fligg :( ) and try again. Will post back soon.

Edit: None dared to report my actions....... (It worked)

Fligg: I can test a ESP if you want?

Yeah, that explains a lot. I've been having that issue with my Shadowscale too. Lemme know when you've got a fix, Fliggerty.

I'm releasing an update in a few minutes that apparently resolves this issue.

I know it's a little late, but Jac and I were out to lunch (literally). I'll test for you, Fligg.

Thanks Elaura, I appreciate it. :goodjob:

Based upon what testing has been done, I just released the update. So go ahead and try that out, see if you guys can break it in the same ways you have in the past. :hehe:

Will do, Cap'n! You should ask Jac about that. His mother and I are the queen and princess of software breaking. If there is a bug, we'll find it.

The update worked! I went back to a previous save, killed Umbra, and my journal updated! Congrats on the fastest fix in the West!
